Well, Northants are now 245 ahead with six wickets remaining. They have to be favourites now. Can Notts' batting line up at least muster one decent combined innings to get them either a win here or a non-negative result at Hove next week? I'm not expecting any miracles at Grace Road next week.

I think it's fair to say that England's leading bowlers won't be too concerned about Pujara when the Tests are played here next summer, looks like a sub-continent bully to me.

Well it's pretty well all set up for tomorrow now. 207 with 7 standing and the weather looking good for a full days play.

paulsre 22nd September 2017 16:17

So the final round sees Notts in second 13 points ahead of Northants.

Northants have to beat Leicestershire to have any chance of going up and probably need Notts to lose to do so - there is an outside chance if Northants got maximum points and Notts a draw low on bonus points that Northants could edge it.

If Worcestershire lost their final game and Notts and Northants won, there is also an unlikely scenario in which Worcestershire would finish 3rd.

That is highly unlikely. Notts have only won one County Championship match in September since 2009. That was in 2015 against Durham. Notts are pathetic in the final month of the season.

Certainly won't be easy with Sussex finally getting around to fielding the kind of bowling attack that would have put them in the promotion mix.

Yep it is an appalling record and I can't see it changing next week. Notts batting looked all at sea today and will feel at home next to it at Sussex.

Pretty sure it will be the same line up too, we don't have many other options. Perhaps a second spinner in place of Moores? Notts will be hoping for a flatter wicket regardless but playing an extra batsmen has clearly not worked in the last two games.

It really is a shocking situation, even with all of the unavailable players. Though its clearly great for Jake Ball to be carrying the drinks for England.....

Played the second spinner but didn't bother using him much. That's worked well too.

Down to the batsmen .....

Dearie me. Cant even see how we can escape with a (low point scoring) draw, which looks like it would be enough given Northants late collapse limiting their bonus point potential.

Somehow Notts need find another 200 runs or so and then bat 3 sessions or more following on, or Leics to pull out a magnificent win.

Div 2 it is. Oh well, at last we are damned good with the white ball.

Yesterday at Canterbury they went off for bad light towards the end of the day.

Okay, so there was only 1 and a bit overs remainng, so it was not such a big deal.

However, they went off under a cloudless blue sky. The reason it was gloomy was simply because the sun was setting.

Surely something is amiss with the playing times for this to happen?

Close of play was due to be 17.30 (hours of play 10.00 to 17.30), but both sides bowled so few overs of spin (none for Glamorgan, 3.3 for Kent), play was running 40+ minutes late.

(On edit) Perhaps it us worth adding, play was abandoned at about 18.10, some 40 minutes after play was due to have ended as the floodlights were taking over from natural light. Had both sides bowled their overs more quickly, none would have been lost.

WeAreKent 27th September 2017 20:25

As usual you have missed the point, m8. We all know the scheduled hours of play. But that wasn't what Paul was saying...
