Atul has taken my book 'The Fast Bowlers Bible’ and is living it, I see the book as a coaching manual and when people see Atul it could revolutionise the way we think about coaching for fast bowlers. Equally it might not but there is a chance that it could.

All scepticism aside, it could be highly fascinating to have a genuine quick on the scene (and from India, too:D ).

The strangest thing is Atul hasn't played a game of cricket since he was 16, seven years ago. :odd:

Actually re-reading it I think FBU was probably talking about the young bowlers. I'd also be in favour of a pace camp for the youngsters dealing with the more technical side, but I'd probably look for more of a bio-mechanist than a former test great to coach that.

I wasn't surprised that slogger was quick on the scene with his stuff but your correct that it is younger bowlers who need technical input and that older bowlers need advice of how to apply their technique.

Jerk. When you get asked how you meet someone and that's how you met them, what else do you say?

Hi Ponty, hope you will stay around longer this time. :)

Do you think Atul will play in the IPL?

Good to have you back Ponty - you're one of the more interesting posters on here, as well as being better informed than most! Just ignore anyone who tries to wind you up ...

Perhaps Ponty could shed some light on his opinions about the best bowling options for the first test?

Which country?

MM means England, but I'd also be interested on your views on the West Indies attack and how you think they compare to England's.

We had 18 year old Kamran Khan bowling in his first match today without playing first class cricket and he didn't let anyone down.

Has Atul had any injuries with his bowling style?

Sorry as has been pointed out by other posters I was referring to the England team.

Anderson, Kabir Ali, Sidebottom, Broad, Flintoff would be my first choice assuming no injuries. Also Saj Mahmood has been bowling well this winter in NZ for the England Lions.

Monty needs to take wickets. Swann has done well.

Also people who could get a game this summer: the unfashionable Alan Richardson (Middx) or youngster Steve Finn (Middx).

Harmy....hmmm..he seems to have a consistency issue for England that disappears when playing for Durham, but then again do we ever select the team based on County cricket? If we did it would actually look different.

No injuries as a result of his bowling style. All fast bowlers break down though as it's tough going. You just hope that when things do happen that recovery is faster than normal due to fitness and strength levels.

Well injuries mean that Ali and Sibo shouldn't be in contention. I'll be surprised if we see Sibo again. He was clearly unfit in the WI and hasn't been for some time. It would appear that his body can't with stand the demands of bowling 80-85mph regularly. i think Anderson has leapt ahead of him now and is probably the most skilled of all the England bowlers. Boycott always claims he could swing an orange!

I like the WI bowling unit and they showed they can bowl at England and do well.

Taylor and Edwards should do well in the UK, and people like Bravo can make it dart about. Benn is an interesting find and has realised that KP doen't bring his bat down straight when defending against left arm spin, so will work on that.

The way for ANY attack to have the patience to prise out batsmen is for their own batters to score runs and put pressure on England. It's a testing summer and an interesting one.

I would be disappointed if England don't beat WI in our own back yard though.

Still no sign of that video of Atul which was promised, Ponty?
