Terrible start by Essex at home to Somerset. In the last few days, my mind has been thinking back to the 1988 campaign, when Kent were leading the table in August and Somerset weren't doing too well. The West Country team then came down to Canterbury and annihilated the hosts, who took just 1 point from the game - the same margin by which they eventually finished as runners up. Hmm.
