Glad he made it - and in such fairytale style, too.

The highest wicket-taker who is still playing has less than half of Murali's wickets!

Well done Murali. An excellent spinner and a outstanding gentleman to boot.

for me hes provided great entertainment over the years - always interesting to watch and a great trier who always seemed to enjoy what he was doing - he also played with a smile on his face, whilst remaining a fierce competitor even though I cant remember an opponent or teammate ever saying a bad word about him.
His 800 test victims will never be surpassed

Shame you can't accept what he has achieved, at least he played and the left the game with a smile, for what he faced during his career he had a tremendous amount of mental strength and self belief and carried his business about in a respectful manner.

A real shame he didn't finish on a Bradmanesque 799, but well done Sri Lanka, and definitely well done Murali.

I suppose its easy to smile when you play the game with an unfair advantage .
Also on this mental strength lark am I wrong in saying he didnt do welll against Aus where he got most criticism .Maybe im mistaken in that fact

I wouldn't worry about it. His achievements will long outlast the blind critics. Many greats had their controversies, which are rarely spoken of when looking at the records.

So Warne playing for a winning team that happens to have 10 other quality players makes him well and truly above Murali? You're clearly letting loyalties get in the way of logic. A far superior record in every sense proves Murali was the superior bowler and as mentioned he didn't need to take drugs or partake in match fixing scandals either.
I'd never expect an Australian to claim Murali above Warne though, then again they still think they're the best team in the world.

Beefy, you and I have disagreed on many things in the past. I clearly stated that I would, of course, be biased towards Warney. I actually think he was a better bowler. But that is my opinion and I am allowed to have it. Now I think Murali is also the best offie I have ever seen. And more than that he was totally gracious throughout his whole career. I watched a way more of Warne and I think he is the best player I have seen. That's all.

Darn you get up early son.

Warne weren't even the best bowler in his team.

Not necessarily. I also think Warne was better and I despise him and very much dislike Aus. I think Murali is a great guy. It's got nothing to do with loyalties.
