England looking shaky now after losing Stoneman and Malan to Lyon. This is going to take a Joe Root special, but we already pinned our hopes on that.

The commentators sound a lot more confident than I do. Root and Ali could put on a good stand but . But.....

Root given out, our plans in ruins and he doesn't even go for a review. Wouldn't have made a difference but it's not stopped him previously.

All we need is another 8/15 from Broad.

Just about game over with Root gone, really needed a hundred from him to set Australia a tough run chase.

If England can scrape another hundred runs from Ali, Bairstow and the tail they could still be in with an outside chance but that's a big if.

Highest 4th innings score ever to win a test at the Gabba is only 236. England are still in with a puncher’s chance here if we can muster up another 100 runs for the last five wickets.

Not that easy nor likely perhaps. But ... Johnny, Moe and Chris are capable of hanging around with a bit of good fortune.

Well I think that morning session took the chances of a draw down to single figures percentage wise.

Nice to see Mo unafraid to knock Lyon off his length.

If we can, somehow, survive until the second new ball here, we will have a competitive score to make this an exciting finish.

Bloomin hell, thought Mo was going to get away with that for a minute.

Was very tight. For a no ball call, he'd have been fine! He played Lyon far better when he left or attacked him, actually. He was in trouble defending off the back foot so tried to stretch forward but Lyon never hits the stumps so you can afford to leave almost everything on length, even if you don't on line.

What a shame - that gives the advantage back to the Aussies now. Cmon Johnny, grind it out for the next 20 overs then see how things look.

Problem is if he grinds it out for 20 overs then it's the new ball and I can't see us surviving it long.

Well Smith has brought himself into the attack now, so that must feel like a minor moral victory for Bairstow and Woakes.

Well that's a pretty stupid way for YJB to get out.......

So Australia need 170 to win. Australia 1/12 to win with the bookies which seems a bit short to me but they're certainly favourites whatever the history of chasing at the gabba is.

Disappointing effort from the England tail to fold without much resistance but they were unlucky with a couple of reviews going against them.

A chase of 170 shouldn't be too much of a problem for Australia but a couple of early wickets might make them nervous.
