They were quite harsh back then about bowling actions so probably an illusion. Not sure if he was ever accused of that.

Lock's dodgy action (usually when he tried his quicker ball) was a major reason why some of Australia's quicks got away with throwing. England's tour manager approached the Aussie Board to query the actions of Meckiff and Rorke but Bradman pithily replied that he might want to sort out Lock and Loader before accusing others.

After the NZ leg of that tour, the England players were given a chance to watch filmed footage of the series. Apparently, there were audible gasps at some of Lock's deliveries. When the lights went on, the man himself had gone white.

Lock subsequently remodelled his action and, whilst still a devil on a conducive pitch, was never quite the same force again. Just before the refashioning, he'd taken over 200 wickets in a season, and I believe he was the last man ever to do so.

Well picked up Sharky. Called a few times for his action but seems fine in general. Perhaps more interestingly in this obitury the Stokes incident is nothing new.

Who was the befuddled batsman? Sobers was so great to watch wasn’t he? What an ambassador for the game. His first test century that 365* at Sabina Park.
