I'm more concerned with them being competitive. No one wins away anymore anyway.

Also, this is their best bowling attack for a long time. Even in the heydays of the Lara-Sarwan-Chanderpaul axis, their bowling had the likes of Fidel Edwards and Tino Best. Roach is way better.

Fidel Edwards in his prime was a better bowler than Jason Holder is. I don't know much about Keemo Paul or anything about Sherman Lewis.

Should a game like this even have test status?

It's sad how low W.Indies have gone and sadder that some players don't give a fig as 2020 is all they care about.

Really have to ask that prospectively. We’ve seen quite a few test performances from nations who mostly deserve the status that make it appear they don’t. Obviously WI an indifferent test side but being bad away from home is fairly normal these days.

Jason Holder is a genuine Test class allrounder and offers more than Fidel ever did. Not to mention quite a savvy captain.

Paul and Lewis are young and there is a justified argument that they shouldn't be here. And they won't as soon as Kemar Roach comes back.

All I'm saying is they are better than this performance lets on.

The much maligned West Indies giving India more of a fight than some more credentialed sides have done in India recently...

Admittedly India were a bowler short.

As always with these things, it will depend on how India bat. I seem to recall England scoring 400+ in a first innings when we last toured you, only for India to get nearly 700!

Bit of a nightmare debut for Thakur, breaking down in his second over ...

That's all true - I was being a bit mischievous. Just that some of the comments above were overly harsh. No one is claiming WI are a particularly good Test side and the structural problems there unfortunately mean they will struggle to be one in the near future. But they did no worse than India in England on their recent tour for instance and the type of hammering they got in the last Test is not unusual for touring sides these days (India lost by some pretty huge margins in the final Tests in England in 2011 & 2014 for example).

To quote myself from the very first post of the thread before the series-

West Indies in the box seat in the second Test.

Also, shouldn't this thread be a sticky too?

Is there a third test?

Dramatic turnaround this morning, with India doing an Australia.

Looking unlikely that India will have much to chase down.

Only issue will be whether or not a 10 wicket win.

LOL, I'm obviously late to this but there wasn't a single moment in this test that I had West Indies favourite.

Pity the Windies couldn't string 2 good batting performances together.

I am just wondering if both sides had 3 fast bowlers and 2 spinners how it would have turned out. Roach Holder Gabriel v Yadav Sharma Shami.

Seamers 88.1 overs 18 wickets at 17.88 econ 3.85
Spinners 182.2 overs 12 wickets at 43.66 econ 2.87
