Dom Cork pretty damming of county cricket on the Verdict and hitting the nail on the head. Fraser came out with some garbage about it being more exciting if sides get rolled out for 180 in 40 overs than scoring 400 over one and a half days. Something to do with the BPL or PSL seemed to be his "logic". If people like him are so involved in the running of the English game, god save it.

Kohli second fastest to 24 test centuries, behind the Don.

Yep, 123 innings.

It took Bradman 66. Bloody hell

Not bad at all, and that was with no protective headgear, on uncovered wickets and with bats that weren't nearly all middle.

That story of him practicing with the golf ball, the water tank and the cricket stump is astonishing, and quite illuminating. It’s the kind of thing you see in an establishing moment of a superhero film. Ie his hand eye coordination was essentially superhuman

Fair play to Kohli though for being the fastest mortal man to 25 tons!

Although, The Don wasn't the greatest of players on rain affected pitches...as shown by Hedley in 1934.

37 tons to 48 PLFs.

It really would be a fine effort in tests. He has 24 test tons to 19 PLFs just for the record.

So thatís 61 international centuries before his 30th birthday - could he match Sachin and reach the ton?

His rate of ODI tons is phenomenal, there must be a good chance.

Given he's making the centuries at a very fair clip in an era which is largely dominated by the bat, the fact that there is still a degree of doubt if he'll overtake Sachin shows how good the latter really was.

True, but Sachin did start at an exceptionally early age. Had some more of his contemporaries done the same then perhaps his 100 100s might be seens as less out of reach, even if not surpassed.

I suppose the reason they didn't start earlier was they weren't good enough until later.

Or how many better alternatives exist at the time. But I don't think being good at 16 necessarily determines whether that player was later on, or overall, better than a peer who didn't debut until in their twenties.

The debate on who was the best between the likes of Sachin, Lara Ponting and Sangakkara rests on paper thin differences, but the 100 100s became more a testament of longevity in the end, and something of a millstone around both him and India. They even lost the match he achieved it in because he slowed his run rate!
