As a Hampshire man, it's no surprise he's picked four from that county.

I'm not as unconditionally in awe of Bradman as some cricket fans but I still can't fathom an All Time XI without him.

Same here really but his stats surely don't lie.

Not so sure about Greenidge being an all time batting great, although mighty fine. The other 3 Hants players are at least reasonable shouts.

Wink

Basically everyone just picks from their era unless worldly wise..or time wise. Would be interested to hear anyone under 30s best side of all time! Is there anyone under 30 on here?

I was a mere three months old when Edrich accomplished that maiden ton. I do, however, remember his final Test hundred, also at Lord's - a typically doughty 175 in nine hours against Thomson & Lillee in 1975. His strokeplay was much more prevalent in his earlier appearances...in fact, he still holds the record for most boundaries in a Test innings - 52 fours and 5 sixes in his undefeated 310 v NZ at Leeds in 1965.

Lord's was of course packed on that day in '64 but it looked a very poor turnout by the MCC members. Still plenty of hats and smart dress amongst the ordinary folk at that time....it was only eleven years later that a fellow ran onto the hallowed turf wearing nothing at all!

Lovely clear film for its time, especially the part in which HMQ meets the teams. Dexter and Simpson - has there ever been a more dashing pair of captains in the same Ashes series?

Once again, thank you, Corbo.

Beautiful quality film. I've never heard of Graham Corling, and stats wise it looks as if he had a rather mediocre career, but he had a nice bowling action on him.

Pleasure. Was 7 then. Maybe 2 more years before I got into cricket.

Another glitch in the matrix is cricketers from over 50 years ago look old. To me most fit people under 40 look like kids now but watch old footage and cricketers aged 20 to 40 look middle aged.

You think it's illegal or just odd?
