One of the most annoying thing re Cricinfo is the loading of ads as you open the site or click on a particular match or article. I never learn. Iím too impatient and click on what I think is the piece I want but the ads are still loading and it takes twice as long.
I want to choose competitions - test, CC Div 1, CC Div 2, ODIs, T20Is...

I donít want to have to wade past Jersey v Bermuda, Sti Lanka A v India A etc to find division 2

Root and branch reform please.

Australia 2016-style clear out of the top order required.

Having seen Cook always rake up runs against us, I am happy to see our bowlers having the better of him, for a change. It was also good to see Cook making way for Buttler

Our quick bowling has really improved, and they seem to be bowling as a unit. The good thing is that there is still room for improvement, and we could be a seriously difficult attack to face if each of these guys really bowl to their potential.

His form for the ODI side this summer has certainly been better than for the Test side.

But who else could do it?

I don't think he's anywhere near the top of the list. Buttler is vice captain now....

Really. Seems quite sensible to me.
Rosebowl looking good now. Bat first.

To be replaced by who? List of names, please.

No point replacing players with inferior ones.

No-one banging down the door for selection in domestic cricket. The ones who remotely are/were are Pope, who has been given a go, Vince, whose selection gets slated on here, Mo, who is back here, Bell, who the selectors seem reluctant to go back to, and Burns, who must be set to be given a go at The Oval, his home ground.

From the long list of openers tried in recent years none are remotely showing the sort of form for a recall.

In fairness to Root, he was due a run of poor form, so it's just a natural fluctuation rather than the problems of the captaincy. Or perhaps rather the move up to 3.

I also don't know whether he can take the blame for the technical failings of all the batsmen England cycle through.

Hard to disagree with you. However to me he does not appear to be a great captain but he could be a great batsman. Play him at 4 unencumbered by any outside influences.

All these batsmen walking off take up a lot of time.

Unfortunately for Bell Bayliss didnít see the best of Bell when he took over in 2015. Bell was then dropped after a poor Pakistan tour and England seemingly washed their hands of him altogether. It looks as if they are unwilling to acknowledge that Bell might still have had something to offer, and has something to bring to the middle order right now; so selecting him would make them look stupid. Heaven forfend that England management and selectors should look stupid.

Cannot recall such a long run of top 4 failing. We've had worse sides but usually someone in top 4 comes good.

Unless England are playing Glamorgan every week, I doubt Bell would have anything more to offer than the current timewasters.
