You've left out the Test Captain (who is selected).

Willey is injured, he's the only one of the full strength squad who should be there.

No major shock with Dawson, the only other spinner with a solid claim in the Royal London is Parkinson whose leggie like Rashid. He's also a very good fielder.

Stone makes sense with 6 bowlers as he can bowl a couple of short quick bursts as something different. I don't think I've ever seen him bowl so whether he's actually good enough I've got no idea.

Maybe if Parkinson had had further opportunity to press his case by being played in Lancashire's remaining CC games, he'd have been given more consideration.

I've only seen him in a T20 (last year's quarter final at The Oval) where he looked distinctly sharp in pace but went for a lot of runs without taking a wicket.

Not sure that would have much impact on the ODI team. From what I've seen he's a far better prospect than Crane. If he was selected he'd be an alternative to Rashid, Dawson, Ali and Rashid allows them to play 3 spinners who are all different.

Genuine quicks do seem to come through quickly when they find their radar. Interesting to see what happens.

With no Plunkett or Willey for the first three games playing all 3 seems likely. Shame that the ECB are not allowing Archer to be selected it would have been a good time to try him with those two missing.

Didn't think they could, needs to serve 7 years so according to wiki would not be eligible until 2022 (Winter) Unless you're criticising their rules

So what we looking at (batting) order wise

Roy, Hales, Bairstow
Morgan, Ali, Root, Buttler,
Stokes, Woakes, Curran (C), Curran (S)
Rashid, Dawson
Plunkett, Stone, Wood

Not a terrible set, although I question why Wood is picked and indeed a few others are far from without cause to question.

Reckon if England can get their bowling line up right in ODIs they'd be a match for anyone, whether they have the cahunas to do it when it matters and not just bilateral series where you can afford to lose a game or two remains to be seen.

And only a quick mention as to the way the ECB handle the whole Stokes affair, leave him out of the Ashes, bring him back then he misses a game for a trial, completes the summer before being charged with bringing the game into disrepute just before naming him in the England squad.

If he and Hales are bringing the game into disrepute does it send out any kind of right message to then pick them!?!?!?!? I would expect them to be suspended from selection until it was all settled, well Stokes at least

Surely the way to do it is by starting from a presumption of innocence? If he's cleared but has missed two major tours as a result of this shabang it rather makes a mockery of the procedures.

The ECB could, they just choose to have moronic rules.

I've just realised that squad has no backup batsman (I guess Dawson is kind of) but 6 fast bowlers plus Plunkett as well when he joins up, slightly skewed squad really.
