Lancs have details of which teams they are at home to and which will be away in the 50 over cup on their website. Anyone know if this info is available for other counties?

There's a way of working this out. It's based on how they came out in the draw. I THINK the first four after your position in the draw you play away and the next four home.

Group B Kent, Hampshire, Sussex, Essex, Lancashire, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire and Glamorgan

So Notts play Sussex, Essex, Lancashire and Middlesex at home. I THINK.

Lancs Home matches v Middlesex, Notts, Warwickshire & Glamorgan
Lancs Away matches v Essex, Kent, Hampshire & Sussex

from

http://www.lccc.co.uk/lccc/2015-fixtures/

So they must have changed the system. I hope so anyway as I fancy trips to Hove and Lord's

Looking at it again it seems the opposite of what you said so I assume we get Warwickshire, Glammy, Kent and Hampshire at home and potential trips to Sussex, Essex, Lancs (hopefully an outground) and Middle (hopefully NOT an outground)

Are we assuming then that the 27th Nov is indeed the release date?

From past experience and to avoid unnecessary stress, it's probably best to go for a nice stroll, make a cup of coffee, walk the cat, take a very early lunch or even do an hour's work at around 10.30 next Thursday and come back to the cricket sites afterwards, because they invariably encounter some technical glitch when attempting to publish them on the dot of 10.30.

I won't be able to find the fixtures until the evening .... whilst this is flustrating it will at least mean that by the time I get home Yorkshire should have got their lists right ... for a numhber of seasons the first list uploaded has been incorrect & they've had to change it.

I've heard that you start against Kent at Gravesend, 29th, 30th April, 1st May.

I've had to work away shed loads the last six months or so meaning that I have loads of free hotel nights stored up due to those friendly chaps at hotels.com and the company credit card. I have never been more excited about what away venues Notts will get.

Now which 1960s fixture list is that from? Surely they'd start a week earlier with the match against MCC at Lord's?

Let's say '65 or '66, when the Pears would have been at Lord's !

Not so: MCC v Yorks was the pipe-opener in both of those seasons, and wasn't related to MCC v Champion County, which had ceased in 1960 and wasn't revived until the 80s. In 65 Yorks played Glos at Harrogate, starting May 5th, and in 66 they went from Lords to Oxford for May 4th, before starting their Championship season against Glos on May 7th at Middlesbrough.

This is Pedantry Corner, in Private Eye, isn't it?

Can I respond with similar pedantry to suggest that MCC v the previous season's Champs occurred throughout the 1970s? I attended the MCC v Kent match in 1979, and remember Paddy Clift marking his debut for Leics in 1976 with 8 for Not Many against MCC.

Absolutely right and I apologise. That's one of the penalties of age, taking things for granted. I knew that it had been abandoned for a while and had made the assumption that it was just dropped altogether - nothing of the kind as you rightly say. Maybe they just got so used to playing Yorkshire in the early 60s that they couldn't be bothered to change it when Worcester got in the way? At any rate, by 1970 they had MCC v Glamorgan, so the custom resumed at that time.

I personally feel that MCC v Champion County was abolished as the curtain-raiser to the English season a few years back when the fixture was moved abroad. It's notable that Cricket Archive has filed the MCC v Durham scorecard under "Durham in United Arab Emirates 2013/14".

Absolutely, and thereby deprived Monty Panesar of being the first to take 5 wickets in an innings in the 2014 season, and for reaching over 50 wickets in the season. Leaving the fixture standing out on its own as if it is a 1-game tour is ridiculous - but then the whole concept is pretty absurd.
