But that was from 2 more matches and only 1 going up, so always going to be a higher number than that required this season. Last year Kent got 212 off 16 in 2nd, and Worcs got 203. I'd be shoked if 190-200 isn't enough this year for 2nd, and 210 for 1st outright - Notts could probably draw all their remaining fixtures and still go up - a win in the Kent/Worcs game, especially for kent who only have to play Notts once, would actually be a step forward for Notts to guaranteed promotion, but at the expense of making the fight for 1st closer. Given who Notts still have to play, 2 wins and 2 draws would be around 60 points, so they can even afford a loss or two (hopefully to Kent!)

Now Ali has snaffled Adam Rouse and Coles, I see, but Kent's lead is well over 300 and Denly still going strong. |

Leicestershire have beaten Samit Patel by 21 runs.
I bet he doesn't forfeit an innings in his next match. |

There we are then; Kent have set them essentially 400 to win and a full day and a bit to survive. Joe Denly, last man out, attains his highest first-class score of 227 in a superb effort.

Perhaps an indication too that the pitch was pretty lifeless.

Michael Vaughan was all about lumping of Durham to win yesterday and this morning. Not sure that would've been a smart investment (or why you'd listen to Vaughan about anything apart from maybe tactics from the series' he played in).

Derbyshire's Hamidullah Qadri has become the first person to play county cricket who was born in the 2000s. He was born on December 5, 2000.

Rain has intervened in Kent's favour, making a draw possible although still pretty unlikely, barring loss of time in the post-tea session.
Edit: Scratch that; with Darren Stevens unavailable to bat, Kent are effectively 8 down and there are up to 60 plus overs available when play begins in just over half hour. Last edited by stevieh : 29th June 2017 at 16:08. Reason: Updated information re rain delay |
