Aussie commentators seeming to think this is some kind of monster target for England, I think England will be happy to chase it on a good batting wicket obviously the Aussie bowlers will have a say. 300 is the new 250.
Now you know how I feel.

You have to remember they come from the era where 225 was a competitive total, and that they all are completely brain dead as human beings also.

Playing well, but his scoring is enough the rest can afford to ease off the gas a little. Only need to be around 200 with 10-15 overs to go, wickets in hand will be key in who wins and at this rate they may well be at 200 by the 25th over with 4-5 wickets down.

Think Root could play an anchor role here, I mean if the ball is there to hit then fair enough, but surely he knows or Morgan knows and told him the pace they need to maintain early doors and that wickets (in hand) are key. Would be a shambles if England lost this with the top 4+ scoring at an SR of 100..........

re 300 the new 250, 250 was a good total around the 1992 World Cup but they've been creeping up so if anything 300 would be the new 280 and has been for a while. Certainly attainable, aussies posted 304 from 78/3, England have won a few chasing 300+ (3-3 with one tie since 2004 not including against minnows, Bangladesh or Zimbabwe although that only adds 1 win to the mix)

Also been chased down a lot posting 300+, 10 times plus by Ireland since 2004, but have won 19 plus 5. That's not to say they haven't won posting under 300 and lost chasing under 300, lost to Bangladesh last winter chasing 239

Am a little curious about Stoinis, averages (just) over 60 with the ball in his ODI career

You'd like to think even though they come from an age when some watched the game from outside the ground sat on the back of dinosaurs that they'd watched some in the past 10-15 years.

Of course there is a chance they are basing it on something else like England in the Test series, but this is a different format and England a different kettle of fish in it.

The main goal of the channel Nein commentary crew is to desperately remain as relevant as possible, with knowledge of cricket, even the basics of the game, or the ability to be able to broadcast at a semi-professional level, being absolutely secondary.

Is banter banned ?

England’s highest score in powerplay since 2002.

Keep wickets in hand and this should be straightforward.

I enjoyed it. And it seem Hales is still 'bored of scoring tons.'

Yeah on flat wickets our ODI team is exceptional and I'm really not sold on Australias batting lineup, mostly due to choices by the selectors (to be fair Lynn is injured but somehow he's only played a single ODI and 5 T20i before this series) rather than lack of options.

I think Australia would really help themselves against England by producing bowler friendly wickets or at least ones where the ball doesn't come on to the bat as our crash and thump style really struggles in those conditions.

We never seem to have a good test side at the same time as a good ODI one..the ODI side is currently strong the test side a tad weedy.

Moeen Ali always seems to be so economical in ODI cricket. Compliments Rashid really well. Interesting that they’ve chosen Hales to bat at 3. Surely the logic is for Bairstow to do it. I do like Root and Morgan moving down one though.

Not sure why Oz are keeping back overs for Starc and Cummings - game will be gone.

England really are a good side. With Stokes to come back, who would drop out? Could be Buttler, if Bairstow continues to score runs. Also, having Wood and Plunkett in the side gives us good firepower with the ball.

When it's a relief that Nicholas and Pietersen are on, it says a lot.
