I would love to be watching this opening spell from a world-class bowler and a good overseas pro.

82/9. Not the usual Scarborough road! Amir 4/10 off 9.

Tendo ensures a lead and then Ports and Amir get Yorkshire 0-2. We might win this...

And none of the chasing teams have managed to catch up on batting points in this round.

something wrong with Essex if they don't win it from here. Yorkshire's batting beyond dire.

That's a thumping victory for Essex in a game that many thought would be the most difficult of their remaining six. Another four wickets for Porter today but Amir was the standout bowler in the match with 10 for 72. It may be that Essex have not only the most dangerous spinner on the circuit but also the most destructive seamer. Lancs dearly need to win at Southampton and will hope that the weather turns out to be considerably better than forecast.

It is pouring down in Scarborough today. Wrapping this up in 2 days could well have been crucial to Essex's season

Just to add to the post match gloom descended upon North Marine Road!

Well played, Essex.

It is pounding with rain in Scarborough and forecast to continue until 6am. I don't think they would have got any more play in - the outfield must be saturated.

Might be a few squeaky bums with Warwickshire beating Middlesex.

The relegation dogfight could pull in a few teams - especially if Somerset somehow managed a win over Surrey

Yes, in the space of a few days, Middx have gone from sitting just outside the chasing pack, with a chance of going 2nd or 3rd....to flirting a little too close to the relegation area.

And what a difference Woakes makes to Warks - 5 top six wickets and a half century. Unfortunately for The Bears, Championship cricket will shortly take another three week break, by which time Woakes will most likely have been pulled back into the England squad.

At first sight, that is what I thought, but unless they rest Stokes, Broad or Anderson what is the route back? Surely Roland Jones will be picked for the West Indies matches.

I imagine that will be the route back - one or both of Anderson/Broad to be rested to give Woakes one or two matches back in the firm before Aus. Even if it's just one Test, that'll probably be sufficient for him to miss three of Warks' final five fixtures.

I've just seen footage of Borthwick catching Groenewald off his own bowling. Best/worst dismissal of the season?

Not even the best/worst Somerset dismissal.

This one is Cracker Jack. This is why crane should replace moeen.

Should've realised from that dismissal that Moeen would have a good series.
