Holder has been given a demerit point for apparently swearing when a catch was dropped yesterday.

I thought you were joking. It wasn't picked up by the stumps microphone, just that the umpires heard it. That is just crazy.

Don't children hear swearing at school, on tv, other sports, everywhere really. It's just part of the language.

If ICC consistently enforce it then there will hardly be anyone left to step onto a field. Nuts.....

Rabada has 9 demerit points in the 2 year period.

Rabada’s demerit point history

February 2017 Three demerit points v Sri Lanka for inappropriate and deliberate physical contact

July 2017 One demerit point v England for a send-off offence

(One match suspension / four accumulated demerit points)

February 2018 One demerit point v India for a send-off offence

March 2018 Three demerit points v Australia for inappropriate and deliberate physical contact

(Two match suspension / eight accumulated demerit points)

March 2018 One demerit point v Australia for a send-off offence

Cricbuzz
However shortly after the ICC announced the decision, CSA confirmed that they were seeking legal counsel to weigh up an appeal, which would need to launched within 48 hours. The organisation noted that should Rabada appeal, he will still be suspended unless the Judicial Commissioner is appointed early and hears an argument to allow him to still compete whilst the hearing is being arranged.

Based on all of that, he needs some mentoring from somebody like “whispering death” on how to be intimidating and aggressive without getting suspended.

The stupid thing is that virtually all his penalties are for once he's taken the wicket, so no point being intimidating at that point, you've won the battle.

Needs to work on a celebration that he can do every time, running off to the boundary like Tahir might be his best bet!!

It seems the best way to wind Rabada up is to get dismissed by him. Very canny by the Australians and clearly a deliberate ploy.

Smash the stumps over instead?

Test cricket is dying yet we have one of the most interesting and exciting series for a while and what do the authories do? Suspend the best and most charismatic player!

I know, very rarely do you get the best elements of Bradman and Lillee in a single cricketer.

Ball tampering

2010 - Afridi - chewing ball
2013 - du Plessis - zip
2014 - Philander - fingers and thumb
2016 - du Plessis - mints

Any others since 2010?

Players seem to get away with standing on the ball, recently Cummins and Broad.

Smith banned for a game and loses his match fee. Bancroft gets a 75% match fee fine.

Saw Smith's performance on TV this morning. "Cringeworthy" doesn't even begin to describe it. What a wuss.

Could he not have done his crying for whatever reason (shame, lost earnings, whatever), in private?

Why is it that bowlers running down the wicket can be warned and pulled out of the attack but a batsman can wander down the track and tap away with his bat on any bump, crack or rough patch he doesn't like?
