He played 14 test matches last year, that's as many as Botham or Flintoff ever managed in a year. Are you sure you aren't confusing him with his county colleague Mark Wood?

It might be worth mentioning that Woakes has had a couple of injuries recently as well. Didn't he miss most of last season due to an injury he picked up just before the Caribbean tour? Then he missed the T20 WC as well I think.

Joe Root's back too. I think it's really difficult to play all versions of all cricket in every tour and is just asking for trouble. |

I think we can all agree that we're lucky to have two excellent all rounders in our side in Stokes and Woakes.

He was dropped for the World T20, not injured.

If we are talking about the best World XI at the moment, de Villiers would have to open to get in. Ashwin would get in ahead of Mo. Might be able to squeeze Williamson in there somewhere. Otherwise it's the England team, if all fit.

The only way i'd have Cook as Captain in my World XI is when hell freezes over, he's as tactically naive and clueless as they come.

Who is captain doesn't really matter in modern international cricket. Pick the XI first and then give the job to whoever's best with the media.

He certainly batted and fielded very well. Not sure what else he did.

For all of McCullum's innovation, he never won anything, no World Cup, no World T20. Cook has two Ashes series in the bag as captain. Also, he jacked it in to make money around the world with franchises. In the last two Tests he has made three perfect declarations, not sure what more people want.

Perhaps Tendulkar is keeping wicker? It's amazing that players with this lack of knowledge about their own game exist, although we should've already known as many become commentators.
