Bookies have England runs par from here at 341.

That looks very high.

I would say there's only a small chance of us making 300 from here, but I always live in hope. Malan and Moeen to put on 100 would be nice ...

Aust will be expecting to rack up 500+ in their first innings on this, so 341 might still be well under par. I was expecting the deck to do a bit more than it has. Hopefully it starts to take turn.

Open goal for Mo to begin to redeem himself tomorrow. No time pressure - sunny weather forecast - the stage is his.

Malan now top England run scorer in the series on 371.

Cook on 366, Root 320, WJB on 268.

Probably between these four for the final analysis.

Facing rested bowlers with the new ball is akin to opening the batting, however.

If he can bat for much more than 50-60 balls, or so, against Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins, heíll have earned a middle order place on a more regular basis.

Iím confident that Mo is going to deliver the goods today. Iím thinking a rapid 89 to help England to 403 shortly after lunch.

funny that the lights were on even though the sky was blue. England really messed up at the end, think Australia will get a first innings lead of over 200.

Trying not to get my hopes up too much, but if he can last that long, in a partnership of, say, 20 overs with Malan, he has the inherent talent to go on to a higher score as the new ball softens.

Well, the good news is he is at least attempting to play properly. The bad news is he’s missed out on about 6 imminently hittable leg side deliveries from Starc.

Just as well. Root got out to a hittable leg side delivery.

Blinding catch from Smith at second slip. Bit of a nothing shot from Malan though. Can England inch their way up to a score that is a mere 150 runs short of par?

This series has been decided by key moments. That root dismissal was a killer.

Let's hope we bowl last on here. Lots of turn already.

Curran at 8. Mega LOLZ.

It’s depressing that the commentators are already talking about farming the strike.

Need to bat and bat and bat here - let those footholes build up.
