I agree it's rather annoying, I presume they've done it to fit in with the BBL but they could have got an extra two games in during this time or made a bit of extra time for a 3rd test in NZ.

I don't think it's anything to do with the BBL (at least I bloody hope it's not). I think it's more a case of looking a maximise attendances (and revenue) by holding all the matches at the weekend. I can understand that but it's not great for the armchair fan.

Always used to be Sunday-Tuesday-Friday (although that was when it was a Tri-Nations affair). But instead today we got the two worst BBL sides throwing up a complete one sided non-event.

Well there aren't any BBL games on the days when we're playing ODI's whereas normally there's a game or two every day. I'm not sure which is the chicken and which is the egg though.

There's only so many moronic commentators to go round

Maybe because of the distances to travel? (just making a guess) Did wonder why they played the last Test at SCG and the first ODI at MCG with the only fixture inbetween (the warm up) also at SCG.....

Disagree - There's seemingly an infinite number and we've not even scratched the Kiwi surface yet for the likes of Morrison, Richardson and Doull!!

Hazlewood is out of the 2nd ODI with the lurgy and Alex Carey has been called up to cover for Tim Paine, who is also ill. Looks like Richardson will make his ODI debut for Australia.

Weird England went for a review against Smith off Plunkett, two noises and Buttler caught it, went upstairs no knick but they never checked for LBW (it looked too high and hitting outside the line but still strange that they didn't check it when the review could be retained if it was umpires call).

Really good performance from England in the field on what looks a lovely batting wicket.

Similar impacts from Ali and Rashid in the two ODIs.

It's strange both Finch and Smith looked to take Rashid downtown early on but no-one went after Ali, they didn't really have a chance to against Root after his two wickets in his first 3 overs...

Both outbowled by Root !

Looks like Oz have picked the wrong team for the pitch.

Good chance for England to go for 3 ODI wins in a row vs the Convicts.

Some are critical of Ali in ODIs because he's seen to bowl the easy middle overs. However, this allows Rashid to bowl at the end, where he might go for more runs but will also carry more of a wicket taking threat. Personally, I think it's a good balance.

Seems the commentators were correct. Easy peasy.

I'd say the Aussies picked the wrong side on any pitch. White coming in at 7 after the 2 all rounders seemed odd and thus wasn't the right person for the last 10 overs. They basically just have 3 bowlers plus some extras. With that line up they're going to struggle to defend a total that looks well under par anyway.

Looking forward to the media and certain ex players celebrating the county limited over system which prepares players like this. Imagine how good we will be once we play even more t20. We will be invincible.

Soft lads, they should be out there even if they have turd running down their trouser legs. And what kind of a name is Jhye?

Agreed Sharky - it's symptomatic of the soft culture that pervades Australian cricket. Hazlewood and Paine obviously don't want it enough.
