Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka series

1st test of 2 is underway at Chittagong if anyone’s interested. They’ve already had a tri-series of ODIs with Zimbabwe, and there are two T20s to follow.

Anyway the main point is that in reply to Bangladesh’s first innings of 513, Sri Lanka made 713/9. Bangladesh currently 39/0 in their second dig. You have to feel for the SL opener Karunaratne - out for 0 then the next 3 all make centuries. I wonder if that’s happened before (or an opening partnership of 0 has been followed by three figure 2nd (308!), 3rd and 4th wicket partnerships).

Maybe but Sri Lanka should wrap up an innings victory tomorrow.

Or at least a 9-10 wicket win.

Or maybe not

Second century for Monimul in the match, is that a first for Bangladesh?

Ah well.

And yes, I think it's a first for Bangladesh, I think.

Yes, even a couple of years ago one might have fancied them folding but they're certainly a tougher proposition at home now.

Good to see him getting some runs again, he had a great start to his career then it tailed off. Must have been a crap pitch mind you.

Monimul Haque. Was averaging in the mid fifties for quite a while before a slight slump in form.

Yeah his average was as high as 58 at one stage, now it's down to 48. Most likely comfortable in these conditions but finds it tough elsewhere.

What batsmen wouldn't have found it comfortable in those conditions?

Apparently Sri Lanka's score was the highest ever without a double ton.

Absolutely, one of those pitches may have been dangerous to the health of batsmen, but the other was far more of a threat to the health of Test Cricket.

After the last test perhaps the groundsman overcompensated.

In Bangladesh the hosts got 193, only 4 less than New Zealand got on Wednesday and Sri Lanka overhauled it with 20 balls left. Showed England how it's done.

Wow.

*copied from 'The India Thread'

I didn't want to create a whole thread for this but an instant classic in the Nidahas Trophy final. Karthick hitting a last ball six with 5 to win on his way to an 8 ball 29.

India needed 34 off the last two overs.

Bangladesh must feel shell shocked after this though these things sometimes happen in T20.
