To be fair i don't think Cooper is classed as an overseas is he?

Anyhow both Stokes and Bresnan in actino today with the former off to a handy start batting at 3.

Touring Sri lanka and picking World Cup squad based on that looks clever.

Good innings though that was, it is not as though Stokes has done that much overall in his ODI career. That said, if you were talking of natural talent alone he would be higher up the list than the likes of Jordan and Woakes.

Another player performs better outside the England set up, eh?

Either that or Ben Stokes is the cricketing equivalent of Bernard Tomic. Turns it on in Australia, but not so much anywhere else.

Domestic cricket compared to international might be important.

I can't offer a fair view on this. I rate woakes very highly and think that Jordan is the most overrated cricketer since Denly.

Good day for Stokes, less so for Mr Pivotal himself, Tim Bresnan, but maybe he'll get a go with the bat later.

I don't dislike any of those 3 but Jordan still doesn't have a proper run up. He clearly has the natural athleticism to bowl quite sharply. If he was to sort that out, and to be honest I remember him running in a lot harder when he got a wicket or two at the Oval back in August he looked more dangerous. That said the circumstances made that rather too favourable to judge him that seriously.

My suspicion with Woakes is that he is a more natural longer form player than limited overs cricketer. I also worry too that he has had to bulk himself up to bowl a pace that he isn't comfortable bowling at.

Stokes has all the athletic/physical potential and at a young age can bowl quick reverse swing. He probably doesn't have the technique yet as a batsman (as probably confirmed by his disastrous test summer with the bat) and is erm, not exactly on a mature set of shoulders quite yet! My views on all.

Very military medium but in fairness his first game in a while. Then again he looked very military medium last year. He'll probably need to have quite a big contribution if Hobart will pull through. He did take a good catch though.

I think Stokes is the kind of player you have to back fully and eventually get the rewards. Just sort of sticking him in at number 8 where he can barely get a chance to do anything with the bat but then expect him to be a frontline bowler doesn't really work.

I dunno. Much bigger stadia holding more matches. It is a bit chalk and cheese.

Big Blast games in 2013/14 - 35
T20 blast games in 2014 - 129

Which is why cricket is awesome, as you can say anything you want with the stats...

I see Bresnan batted at #6!! Clearly the Hurricanes consider Hilf to be a better batsman.

Showing the strength of franchise cricket having a batsman as good as Bres languishing so low in the order. In county cricket he opens or number 3 at worst.

He's been like that for a while. Another 5 years and he'll be Angus Fraser.
