Strange list.
Vaughan more influential than Cook? Morgan only just ahead of Hussain and Boycott? How does Delia Bushall have any influence when BT shows no Englsih cricket? |

I'd put money on Strauss being able to negotiate that to his own advantage.

This is all down to the ECB and their selling rights to ALL cricket in England to Sky, which has a sub base of 8-10 million....with far fewer subbing to sky sports.

The thread title is ECB household names. But we've got sidetracked by an article about most influential people in cricket. The most influential aren't necessarily or even likely to be household names. I agree that our star players ought to be household names and the lack of a presence on freeview TV doesn't help.

Root might creep in, but I think you'd be talking the kind of cricketing X-factor type scenario so whoever best fits in a boyband might make it as a "household name".
Thinking Stokes might, Buttler if both played, be a laugh if Moeen was. Not sure a household name is something you can really expect like you might in football say, a lot of people don't like cricket, some will even go to lengths to tell you why it's boring even though that's as daft as telling someone who believes in god why he doesn't exist and vice versa........... |

I'd just like to say it's a real shame that none of the England team share their name with a well-known cleaning or kitchen product as that would be a real funny gag about this "household name" business. Ben Toilet-Duckett is the closest I've got. Poor effort from the selectors.
I suppose Cook and Buttler obviously sound like staff but that's not the angle I was going for.

More of a niche item than a household name tbh

This should help increase Stokes' public profile.

The public can now identify him in a police line-up.

So Pointless tonight had a round to name the leading English test run scorers tonight. Photos of the 16 options were displayed on the screen. The highest scoring answers were those players from the 70s-90s, with today's household names seemingly as obscure as those long dead heroes from the 30s, 40s and 50s
