I've seen him on TV a few times - probably for England U19's and/or for the Lancs T20 team. However, I don't know a huge amount about him. If he is able to bowl quickly then that's good news - hopefully he'll get some more opportunities this season.

Lions fly out to Jamaica today. Sam Curran and Dawson in the England T20s but could re-join the Lions as the T20s end Feb 21. Any more injuries in the England T20s and someone else could be called up.

Garton is in the red-ball squad now to replace Curran I assume.

What is the point of Dawson in the Lions squad - he'll be 28 by the end of the tour..

It's not the u19s. There might be reasonable arguments against his selection based upon ability, but not on his age.

Plus they always like a few senior “leaders” in there which probably isn’t the worst idea the ECB have ever had. Malan - to my mind - has probably benefitted from his time on Lions tours when he might have looked a similarly odd selection at the time.

Jennings essentially carries his bat for a century in the first tour match. Hameed scores just 18.

Very impressive knock given the number of wickets that have fallen and the next highest score was 53.

Keaton Jennings is a really funny one. You get the impression that Baylis thought he was a really good player. I remember before he came into the England team, Rob Key saying he was head and shoulders above the other openers around the circuit. I wonder if he’ll get another go. Suppose Lions runs will help.

Jamaica now 92/7 with Garton getting a couple of wickets.

Why single him out? He scored more runs in this match than Gubbins or Livingstone, the only two other Lions players to have completed two innings.

A tame draw with only Clarke getting runs in the 2nd innings (Jennings didn't bat). Jamaica made it to 131-4 off 45 overs (Porter didn't bowl).

3 for 47 off 16 in the match for jack as he prepares for a late call to NZ.

Cause I'm more interested in how he does than them?

I think Hameed has come into contact with more coaches when he should just be listening just to his dad. You wonder if he will ever get to 50 again.

Last game of the season
lbw 3 Roland-Jones
23* (76) Finn 8/79 (why isn't Finn with the Lions/in the squad to NZ)

47 45 0 0 7 0 9 10 18 38* 17 23 6 77* 15 21 88 4 62 - he seemed to be getting back to his best towards the end of last year.

He did seem to go back to basics at the end of last summer and got better scores.

Garton has a side strain so will miss the rest of the red ball games but flying back for the one day cricket.
