England Lions
We seem to have lost the Lions/EPP thread so I thought I would re-instate it. OK, it's hard to get info on how they're shadowing the main team in Oz but there is some stuff out there and some of them are doing really well.
Also an insight I love (well, I would, wouldn't I?) into life as a Lion with Jimmy Adams blogging on the Hampshire website. http://www.rosebowlplc.com/news/food...rowing-things/

I'd like to see
Jimmy Adams Adam Lyth Ravi Bopara James Hildreth (C) James Taylor Craig Kieswetter (+) Adil Rashid Liam Plunkett James Harris Jade Dernbach Maurice Chambers Actually I'd prefer Finn over Dernbach but I gather Finn is staying in Australia after the Bresnan injury. Suspect Gale will play also. They arrive (Monday) tommorow. Last edited by Slater : 7th December 2016 at 18:54. |

Is there no-one else we can take than Plunkett? Seems a waste of a position to me. Also we should totally send Davies out there.

Of all the openers we have tried the one I liked the most was Kieswetter. I hope that he can get back into the England one day squad.
I would also like to see Tayor play for England but there are others in the queue ahead of him like Morgan, Hildreth and Bopara so he could have a chance in ODIs. Can change tempo according to the game situation and very quick between the wickets, always looking to make ones into twos. None of the bowlers interest me but we do have a long line up who have already played for England and should keep out anyone else for the next few years. Anderson, Broad, Tremlett, Onions, Finn, Bresnan, Shahzad, Woakes. |

No chance of seeing an attack of Harris, Woakes, Finn and Rashid then :\.
Harris is the one I hope does well. Strangely unnoticed by many, yet clearly very talented. |

I definitely want to see Rashid. I would have preferred to have him in the WC squad to Tredwell. I am sure Woakes and Finn will be playing this year in one form or another. Harris is still young and has time ahead of him.

An article about the 'Lions' on the ECB website mentioned England A had competed in the West Indies domestic competition a decade ago. Searched around on the net and found Cricket Archive had scorecards from the Competition.

Some blasts from the past in there. There are only 2 players who are still in the England fold who featured in this series.
One took 18 wickets at 20.11 including 9 in one match. Bell played one game because he was playing for the U-19 team. |

I'm happy with the batting but the bowling looks a bit weak in the absence of Finn and Woakes. I don't think the likes of Plunkett, Chambers and Dernbach are likely to make it at international level.

Yet but Chambers is well fast and we all know the value of an express bowler bowling juicy full tosses onto the batsman's pads.

Chambers was actually a bit useful last season and is worth a punt in a development side. Not saying he's close to international honours right now but I think he has promise for one.
