Agreed.

To change the subject completely have you seen much of Liam Livingstone so far Grannie? I watched him yesterday in the Roses match yesterday and thought he looked a class apart (until he was made to look pretty foolish by a Rashid wrong un).

Playing like an international, and also he is an international and thus merits mention in this thread, unlike a certain R. Bopara ...

Not yet beyond a few highlights but I'm not sure it's changing the subject from playing like an international either.

Thanks for that Sean Spicer. For someone who doesn't want to talk about him you seem to enjoy talking about him a lot on here.

6-0-17-2 is surely how everyone wishes their internationals would perform.

If pointing out your crass errors gave me any delight at all I'd be a happy man indeed.

While there is the caveat of him playing in Division 2, his runs against Notts were certainly heartening, too.

Not sure if he'll ever get in the ODI side but he does have a decent record in the format, with a SR that's on its way up from a very low base. Did well for the Lions in limited overs games, too.

He's miles away:

1. Roy
2. Hales
3. Billings
4. Bairstow
5. Duckett
6. Vince
7. Malan
8. Jennings

Given his start this season and his take to International cricket I'd definitely have him 6th on your list.

I'd go with that, too. Probably ahead of Bairstow if we're going for opening options, although we'll see how he does with Yorkshire's experiment.

Form continues - Jennings currently 58* from 51 against the in-form Yorkshire attack.

Watching the Hants/Middlesex game with an eye to seeing Crane bowl. Dawson really is impressing me, to be fair. Bowling to two set batsmen in Voges and Gubbins and causing them some problems on a good pitch. Nice flight and drift and some good variations in pace. Should have been given an LBW and also should have had Gubbins stumped just now but McManus missed a simple chance (insert your own joke about it being good preparation for playing for England).

Someone said that Topley's allegedly gained some pace during his spell out and he's certainly been quick so far here. Regularly mid-80s and a beautiful 87mph yorker just shattered Gubbins' stumps.

The Bairstow opening experiment currently has him making a career first List A 150 from just 97 balls. Root at the other end is pottering along towards a fifty.

Root proving why he is in the England ODI team ahead of the likes of Bairstow ...

Didn't Bairstow do alright opening in a tour match in either India or West Indies?

Such proof is somewhat outweighed by their respective records in the international version of one day cricket.

And indeed their domestic records. That fine innings is Bairstow's third List A hundred from 78 knocks.

Crane got the wickets though.

Will need to excel with the bat if Hantsvaal are to win this one though.

Hundred for Cook. Time for an ODI recall.

*dedicates this post to Sans*

I see England's best limited overs bowler, bowling on a 300+ pitch, has figures of 6-0-13-1.
