There were 4 in the last Test and I think the same number in this Test. On the team sheet that's what they are called.

I'm surprised Neil Manthorp hasn't been on TMS. I quite like it when they have an overseas commentator, not just a summariser.

Looks like Boycs is in a bit of trouble - suspect he'll be finished at the BBC.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/41010324

"Former England cricketer and BBC commentator Geoffrey Boycott has apologised for an "unacceptable" comment about West Indian cricketers.

He said that he would be more likely to receive a knighthood if he was to 'black his face', it is reported.

And he is accused of saying knighthoods were handed out like "confetti" to West Indies greats."

Oh dear. I'm glad he's apologised.

To be honest I'm surprised that this kind of thing doesn't happen more often given that cricket commentary involves a lot of old retired players. In my experience almost all old people hold unacceptable views and consider themselves entitled to express them.

That's it! I'm coming out of retirement. I used to take 20 per lesson in the eighties to teach Germans English. It must be worth about 100 these days.

Boyck's opinion of himself has always been grossly over-rated. He has a point though. Ian Botham has a knighthood. Apart from that have any other WASP cricketers got one? He has recently celebrated his 100th hundred and raised money for Yorks. Air Ambulance. He is currently involved heavily with the TMS anniversary celebrations. Sack him? I don't think it would bother him too much.

BBC Spokesperson has said he'll be on board for WI Tests... I don't think he's a goner now. Not exactly the first controversy that has failed to kill his career

I pity the presenter having to go through the questions on the next FaceBoycs live on Friday... That'll be a tough gig.

Who's got them? Sobers, Richards, Ambrose? Lara, Marshall, Holding, Lloyd and Walsh don't. The three that do are pretty unequivocally some of the best players ever. Is Boycs in that bracket?

Even if the Windies standard for giving out knighthoods is lower, they don't have successful athletes in other fields to recognise like Britain does, with Usain Bolt a notable reference exception.

Pathetic of Boycott to play the race card here.

Botham got his knighthood more for his charity work than cricket.

Strange because in Commonwealth counties people are recommended for knighthoods by their governments and the palace rubber stamps it. That's how Alan Stanford got his. So given these former greats are national heros there it's no wonder they all get knighhoods. Cricketers don't have the same status here.

I love those names. Elconn!

Of course, "the West Indies" isn't one country. Barbados seems quite gong happy. The fact that Boycott is moaning that he hasn't got one cos he's white is somewhat missing the point seeing as it's these countries handing them out. You might as well have Wasim Akram or Tendulkar complaining that they haven't got a knighthood.

What do knighthoods mean anyway?

It's not as if they're anything special. They gave one to Jimmy Savile.

It's not what you know....

Not sure why he's moaning now anyway as Theresa is a big mate of his. She probably could have sorted him out. Doubt she will now.

A BBC local radio DJ was sacked for mistakenly playing an old song with the n-word in it yet they won't sack a star commentator after he deliberately making a provocatively, racist comment. Perhaps if he was a convicted woman-beater they definitely get rid of him?
