A score of 450+ for any side with Broad batting as high as #9 can't be bad - a nice but rather fortunate comedy cameo from him, by the way. However, it took a lot of South African ineptitude (in the field, bowlers overstepping the line and some poor decision making) and some good fortune for some of our batsmen to achieve it.

It'll be interesting to see how South Africa fare on a wicket that is just starting to show some inconsistent bounce now.

That was fun. 458. Reckon pitch will take spin on days 4 & 5 plus will keep low. May be a match winning score.

On fastest to 100 wickets - Botham took 19 tests , Yasir Shah took 17 (!)

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/con...ds/283530.html

Warne and Swann both on a relatively slow 23..

I'm going to use my 10,000th post to celebrate that six from Jimmy. I've rarely heard a shot sound better off the bat. His first ever Test six off a fast bowler too.

South Africa have been a bit dopey in this match, the failure to review Broad's early lbw a perfect example and cost them a lot. Broad's a walking wicket but if you let him off he scores very quickly.

So far in this match:

Wickets in first 16 overs of new balls = 8
Wickets in overs 17-80 = 3

Something of an understatement.
