SL vs Ind Series

Yet another series between SL and India have gotten underway, and I expect India to dominate the series. It could be a good opportunity for our batsmen and bowlers to improve their stats. Will we see a new star coming through from SL?

India has started well, even though Abhinav Mukund failed yet again.

Can't see anything other than one way traffic as Sri Lanka seems to be in perilous state at the moment. The 3-0 drubbing of the Aussies a year ago must feel like an eternity.

Dhawan is already 182 not out at better than a run a ball.

Pujura with a great chance to get that average up before being dropped again.

Herath's gone wicketless. When that happens SriLanka are in trouble.

Dhawan is an inferior version of Sehwag. Even his flat track bullying is 180s & 190s rather than 290s & 300s

Can't knock the guy too much though, conditions & attack same for everyone and all that. Just that you know he's going to be a walking wicket next time he steps foot in England or Aus.

And Chris Woakes will generously accept his wicket.

Kohli definitely missed a chance to improve his average. Pujara will continue to make merry (jinx unintended) while Rahane too could look at helping himself to a century.

Why did we include Pandya in the playing XI? Why?

A mini fight back from SL first thing as India now 495/6. Already 500 runs more than they need though.

India scored 600, SL lost an early wicket and Tharanga is counter-attacking. Soon, it would be Ashwin-Jadeja combo coming on, I guess.

All on an Angelo Matthews super-rearguard to avoid the follow on. Don't think it's likely though.

Sri Lanka have previously won seemingly un-winnable Tests against India at Galle...

Slightly different situation this time isn't it with 600 on the board for India. Even you can't be that pessimistic (and England know all about Sri Lankan miracles).

What I'm interested to see is if India will enforce the follow on or not. Considering the humid conditions, would they want to give their bowlers a rest?

So, it is confirmed that India will not enforce the follow on and will now come out to bat. A pity that Gunaratne is unable to bat. We already have 300+ runs lead, and I would think another 100 or 150 would be more than enough. If so, we probably could see India coming back to bowl later in the day.

Dhawan going cheaply is bad for quick runs. Will Pujura risk the wrath of India by batting like it's still a test match?

More so with Shastri replacing Kumble.
