England won't hang about long this morning in wrapping up the innings I'm sure, been some pretty ordinary batting by the South Africans although facing some good bowling.

England will then get back to what they 'do best', making long and painful watching as they set a target. I'm guessing the old favourite of declaring around the final session of day 4 and a target would set a new World Record chase.....

Might not have as big a 1st innings lead this match, but as hard as batting might or might not be batting third it will be as hard if not harder batting last without the lead on top of innings score.......
England are 2-1 in the series in the last test. There is no reason for them to be thinking about setting targets. Bat until they can bat no more.

Guess we can't moan if it's a draw and we bat too long..personally I'm very existential about cricket and would rather take risks and go for a win..I also find the game more exciting if close at the end and through the test. Nowadays I don't really care if it's 2-2 or 3-1 if the games are thrilling rather than predictable...unless it's the Ashes.

England aren't going to win the Ashes any time soon.

Not been following Oz recently. Didn't realise they had got strong again. Seem to beat them fairly easily lately.

After all Jimmy's hard work Broady denies him a 5fer.

Honestly, good. I am up to here with all the excessive obsession with 5 fers and centuries. Jonny's knock yesterday was more valuable than a high percentage of other test scores of a few runs higher. Jimmy's 4 wickets in this innings were reflective of seam and swing bowling of the highest quality. That England had other bowlers to back him up does not detract from either his effort nor his skill.

Yeah but centuries and 5fers win test matches. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Anderson had an over at Morkel so he really denied himself a 5fer by not taking a wicket

What on earth are you banging on about? In the last test England scored at close to 4 runs per over in their second innings and declared with approximately 135 overs left in the match. Given that England are 2-1 up in the series I'd be perfectly happy with a slightly more conservative approach this time around.

Oh yeah? Gotta feeling there could be AN EXCEPTION to the rule coming in this very test match. (Sarcasm/irony detector did pick up your meaning).

Cook's series ends. Morkel has had him on toast hasn't he.

If the catch of Jennings had been held England would have been 16-2, crisis time.

Now 31 -2. Keeping low. 200 lead will be enough but guess we'll get around 350 lead.

Spinner on early.

If Westley's the answer, I'm not sure what the question is. It's certainly not "who can play test 3 for England?"

Test cricket gets harder from the second test. He'll not get much on middle and middle and leg from now on. He will need to find a way to cope with a lot of balls just outside off. For me there is something there but probably not someone who will become a great. There isn't really an awful lot out there that looks better.

That must be in the category of the worst review ever. OK, some are referred just because they can, but that .......
