I can't help wondering why your table doesn't include the subject of the narrative above.

Thanks!

I had a look at the table and Bell is one of only three batsmen in the top 15 to have only a single figure number of sixes hit - 9. Graham Thorpe has only 5 and Strauss 8. The next lowest are Gooch and Hussain with 15 - everybody else has hit more than 20 and Flintoff has hit 86!

Speaking of 6's. Sky now show how far in distance each 6 has travelled and have a table at the end. This was something that I notice first appeared in the IPL.

Didn't they do that for the world twenty20 championships?

Shah occupied the top three spots on Sunday IIRC. Awesome display of power hitting.

Possibly, but I didn't watch any of that.

Does anyone know what the record 4th wicket partnership for England v South Africa is? Cricinfo lists the best between the two sides as 214 but that was by South Africa. Bell and KP have put on 192 now so must be close.

I noticed that. I was going to wait to see how Bell and KP get on before mentioning it. Don't want to jinx them. I can't find the next highest unless I look through each match scorecard, but the highest 4th wicket stand for any team against any opposition at Lord's is 248. Hutton & Compton v. West Indies 1939.

I now fully expect Pietersen and/or Bell to fall in the first over tomorrow morning.

Of the last eight times Pietersen has reached 50, he has reached 100 seven times. He has 13 hundreds and 10 fifties giving him the third best conversion rate of all time.

This was KP's first test against SA. I also heard it was Billy Bowden's first test at Lords.

400 in a 1st Innings by England for the first time in 13 games, in the space of a year, or thereabouts.
