The Scotland Thread

I see Scotland are playing the UAE in Edinburgh, is this just a one off match or part of a bigger tournament? Scotland have a few County pros playing for them, but not as many as there have been in the past.

They've had a few games over the last week or so although most have them have been rained off as the weather's been **** up here.

Ton for McLeod, putting himself in the shop window. I thought Coetzer had retired.

Mommsen retires to take up a new job outside of cricket. If Scotland are struggling for funding, I wonder how likely it is that they will try and merge with the ECB again.

Cant see it happening personally.

Tis a shame how the likes of Ireland and Scotland are scuppered by not getting enough matches. The game is growing in Ireland but bridging the gap to full international status seems as far away as its ever been.

Ireland are playing against England in England next summer, plus their domestic competition has been given first class status, so I think things are being put in place for their gradual inclusion in Test cricket. Totally different to Scotland who just seem to have no aptitude for cricket.

Beat Zimbabwe in an ODI yesterday. First victory over a test nation, although not sure Zimbabwe should really count. Probably suggests more of a narrowing of the gap between the associates and lower test nations than any particular advance by Scotland. Think they lost to Namibia earlier this week.

They did. Scotland are still pretty shank but Zimbabwe are probably the equivalent of a top ranked associate side now. Would definitely expect Afghanistan to beat them.
