With this latest madness going on between the WICB and the players, maybe it's time to call time on the West Indies as a concept. It's time the separate, independent countries went their own way. They can't do worse than this incompetent WICB!

Nowadays if somebody arranges a series against the west indies they don't know if they will turn up, or stay there if they do.

Here is a West Indian point of view regarding the crisis. Although the WICB take a good amount of stick, this writer says that the players deserve their share of criticism too.

I've seen that too. The blog link above from the other day has an up to date post about it too.

Never doubted that the players were not innocent victims in all this, they chose to pull out of the tour and when.

Had they done so before the tour then they might have had legs to stand on, but the bottom line is no one was going to benefit from the drastic action they took and what did it achieve?!?!?

I gather they have now assembled a squad for South Africa, makes me wince just thinking about how soon after the debacle in India that players are signed up to tour again almost as if nothing happened.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/30032522

If they sign the contracts they agree to the terms and should not pull out of tours, so why did they in India?!?!? They didn't like the terms they shouldn't have signed the contracts and wouldn't have been there

Not quite in the league of match fixing, but I think they have committed a serious crime against cricket.

Jason Holder appointed ODI captain.

An eyebrow raising choice. Not many bowlers are captains, fewer still fast bowlers. Fewer still who aren't regulars in the side.

You'd like to think it was an inspired move rather than finding someone who is willing to follow orders from above but as the West Indies administrators appear to be cut from the same cloth as Downton and Clarke (WICB lawyers note that's not libellous as I'm only suggesting that you appear to be, not that you are) one hardly feels like giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I hope this works out. World cricket needs a strong West Indies.

Once again I link to this blog that cuts through media led hyperbole. Make of it what you will. There is more than one cricket board that makes inept decisions that are far more political than cricket based. This however is doubly ironic as the chairman of the West Indies cricket board is called Dave Cameron!

Once again cutting through a lot of crap, although I do think that the above mentioned players are still probably amongst the Windies best players for ODIs.

I liked this very short interview write up with Tino...seems to have a good head on his shoulders and understands his own cricket well. His reflection on the things he wishes he could have improved on seem refreshingly honest.

This I find truly sad. If we think the ECB are a bunch of t*ts, and of course they generally are, think about how bad things are in the West Indies.

This is about how voices of dissent have been completely drowned out. The likes of Michael Holding and Tony Cozier (and others) will not be heard in the Caribbean again it seems

Some interesting comments from Michael Holding talking about the lack of relevance of Test cricket in the West Indies. It would be sad they continued to decline, Test Cricket would be all the more exciting with a strong West Indies team. The emergence of New Zealand as a strong side has spiced things up, it would be nice to see the Windies get somewhere close to where they once were.

The west Indies have been pretty dire since before even Ambrose and Walsh retired, not sure they're still declining.

Biggest problem at the minute is getting players to play. It's sad that players would rather play in money spinning 20/20 leagues, but understandable.

West Indies have missed out in qualifying for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Surprising the rankings count now seeing as it isn't until 2017.

Just another instance of the Windies shooting themselves in the foot.
