An interesting state West Indies cricket finds itself in now. The u19 win suggests hope for the future and the remarkable rise of the ladies team shows they can still bring through talent and quality. The only ladies match I've watched was an ODI at Loughborough between England and the Windies in about 2008. I nearly missed it as we arrived 30 minutes late and the tourists are 30/7 on the way to 40 Ish all out. They're no also rans now though.

As for the men, where is the future? Even without the animosity between board and players, this side is an old one. Realistically only Fletcher, Charles, Russell and Braithwaite will likely be around in 2019/20 so they will have a lot of rebuilding to do.

Get the groundsmen to prepare exciting pitches. If the Windies play Tests with the same spirit and flair they play T20, there would be so much more excitement around Test cricket. In another thread DL said it was a long time since there was excitement around a WI Test series, this would all change if they played in a more attacking style on pitches where you could score quickly. They might not win many games, but playing in a flamboyant style would raise interest, and if the next generation come into a side playing with no fear it will make it easy for them to express themselves.

I agree the pitches need to be much better in the West Indies. They need to get some pace back into them. Not sure this is as easy as telling the groundsmen to prepare exciting pitches though and may require some proper investment.

Bravo spoken out now about the treatment from the WICB
http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/35980943

Didn't even have a kit for them before the tournament and they never had caps.

Still not heard anything further on the Andre Russell missed drug tests hearing. At this rate he might not be playing for Notts in the T20 this year after all.

second coach since worldt20 cup win

yes no wonder why Jimmy Adam of Kent denied to accept job of westindies Coach.Simmons also not too happy of westindies selection in UAE matches.

Garner will be coach although he is Manager of the team til WICB finds someone.

In the final ODI against Pakistan West Indies now have 2 specialist bowlers, Joseph and Gabriel so they have more of a chance of winning. Can Babar Azam make it 3 100s in a row?

I wonder if they are missing Simmons. Lost 3 20/20s and 2 ODIs?
Previously this year
ODIs Won 3 lost 4
20/20s Won 6 lost 1

Specialist bowlers not doing the damage as Pakistan have 2 players reach their 100s, one of the Babar Azam.

Earlier this month, Jason Mohammed made 70 and 52 after returning to International cricket for the first time in two years

Jason Mohammed, one of the only bright spots to emerge from a series whitewash by England, has been called up to the West Indies T20I squad for the first time. The 30-year old batsman struck back-to-back fifties earlier this month and could be vital to a team missing some of its biggest players.

West Indies T20I squad

Samuel Badree, Carlos Brathwaite (capt), Jonathan Carter, Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Veerasammy Permaul, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton, Keswick Williams

Chris Gayle has not played international cricket since the 2016 World T20. On top of that, Dwayne Bravo's hamstring injury and Andre Russell's ban took away two of the world's best allrounders from Carlos Brathwaite's side.

But there was good news on Friday, when it was learnt that Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Samuel Badree and Lendl Simmons were picked for two of the four T20Is against Pakistan from March 26. A WICB release listing the 16-man squad on Saturday confirmed all four men were available to play the entire series.

Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul also has the chance to be capped for the first time in T20Is. He picked up 12 wickets from eight List A matches in January and February and will likely be the understudy to legspinner Badree and offspinner Narine, both in the top 10 of the ICC bowlers rankings in the shortest format.

Batsmen Jonathan Carter, who has recently become a regular in ODIs, and Rovman Powell, whose power-hitting has invoked comparisons with Russell, pushed the number of uncapped players in the squad to four. The experience of Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor and Jason Holder could offset that, although Holder has not played a T20I for West Indies since 2015.

Arrow Malik's six seal series 2/1

Final today at 7 pm IST

As I expected, Pakistan beat Westindies one more time after loosing first match
2/1 victory. At one stage Pak reduce to 36 /3 including Babar for 16 but Hafez and Malik with 113 and Malik/Sarfraz further 87 runs stand seal the series with 41 ball spares.

WI expected wicket will spin but was not, they included 3 spinner including Permaul.Earlier Hope and Jason Mohammad (4 score of 50 in 6 innings) put on 99

Westindies 90 for 3 off 30
Westindies 233/9
Jason M 59, Hope 71
Amir,Junaid,Shadab 2 wits

Pakistan 36/3
Pakistan 236 /4
Sarfraz 24 not out, Malik 101*,Hafeez 81
Gabriel 2 wits

Malik M.OM and MOS
I guess, Pakistan qualify to play in Champion trophy in England.

Looks like Kieron Pollard deliberately bowled a no-ball last night to hand the opposition victory in a CPL match but prevent batsman Evan Lewis, who was facing and on 97* at the time, from scoring a century. Hope they punish him for his unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Unlike Ian Botham at the end of the 1979/80 Sydney Test. With Aus needing just a couple to win, he deliberately threw up the dolliest of long hops to Greg Chappell, who was 94 not out. Possibly bemused by the arch competitor's generosity, Chappello could only strike the pie for 4.
