India still don't like DRS

No info on whether will be used this summer though.

Pathan makes another statement that'll be back in the Indian test team.

Probably not good to announce that when you've just signed for Leics in the t20, is it?

Good honest stuff from Zak. Chappell will ruin Australia now anyway so all is good.

Do you think the BCCI will stop withdrawing their players from playing in CC then ddb? I remember when they stopped Laxman playing last year when the guy barely plays much cricket outside of tests and the IPL. They also withdrew the likes of Chawla IIRC and I think there were one or two others. I can't help feeling that their talented young batsmen and pace bowlers in particular would benefit from stints over here. Perhaps even though he wasn't successful at Yorkshire particularly SRT must have learnt from that season he had over here.

Hopefully Chin, they blocked Irfan Pathan going to the t20 over here too though, so I'm not sure.

On the basis that it would benefit county batting hacks too much? Mind you I can't see what experienced t20 campaigners from the IPL would learn over here. Even so Zak seemed to have a point about his career picking up noticeably after spending a year at Worcs, can't help feeling that other bowlers could spend time over here and learn a good deal. Is it a complete coincidence that over the last few years, apart from old pros, Australia isn't gaining the benefits of young players spending time over here and developing. The Aussies spent years decrying county cricket in terms of it's standard but so many of their players who ended up as legends talked of it as a great finishing school.

I think basically the top tier of Indian cricketers are protected for injury reasons, contractual arrangements and whatever other excuse the BCCI have. The bottom tier of players i don't think are sort after by the counties, as you can get good Pak pros for a cheaper amount or these saffers that come over.

The day before the World Cup final, his wife, Anjali, came to me and said ‘I want to thank you for all that you have done for my husband’. And that’s when I realised the effect of working with Sachin for three years. He had actually considered retiring from international cricket. He had some poor relations with the previous leader of the team.”

Greg is going to ruin Australian cricket, isn't he?

I heard sachin interviewed yesterday at Wimbledon and he came across as incredibly humble and thankful for everything cricket has given him. I am only going to one day of the test series which is day 4 at edgbasten and I hope to see his hundredth ton.

We might pick Jaffer for England apparently.

Think the squad is announced today.

You could play him at 6 I suppose, Yuvraj is your definite weak link in the batting line up tbh.

Not if he carries his confidence from the WC, Raina will start anyway. Mukund is the weak link for the first test.

Do you think they'll throw Sehwag straight into the 2nd test or will he have to wait until the 3rd?

1st test XI?

Mukund
Gambhir
Dravid
SRT
Laxman
Raina
Dhoni
Harbhajan
Khan
Sharma
Sreesanth

Yep it's going to be that unless Yuvraj scores a 100 at Taunton and then Mukund could be pushed out and India open with Dravid.

Sehwag will be in when fit I presume so 2nd test.

I'm genuinely unsure about Sreesanth coming straight back from injury to play against England. All eyes on the tour match, regarding that - else we go with Praveen. It is a shame about this opening batting mess, with Vijay falling out of form and Mukund not exactly having too much to show so far - such an obvious weak link always worries me. Alas, at least Suresh Raina is doing well...but then, can we lose Yuvraj's bowling? Oh, so many questions.
