Can you not add Newell from the selectors?

Personally I would take Flower off the list - I don't think its his fault particularly .
(And hasn't Martin ripped off the Valar Morghulis bit from Tolkein ?)

I will keep Flower because after the shambles of late 2013 he should have been removed from English cricket completely. Ok, he did some good things at times for England but that he was sideways moved into a development role is indicative of the "jobs for the boys" attitude that perniciously seeps through the English set up.

PS all modern fantasy must surely owe something to Tolkien

As far as I'm concerned ASOIAF means "I'M THIRSTY".

I think Flower was in cahoots with the rest of the leadership over the KP fiasco, which has in turn resulted in his best mate being made his replacement and put Downton and the selectors in an impossible position regarding Cook, having backed him to a stupid degree that has bit them on the arse. Who in the English hierarchy has the balls to get rid of Cook?

Fair enough Ali - but was the move all Flowers fault or just the usual ECB solution to avoiding a scene ?
I tend to think the players get in a mindset that they know best and what do former players really know about the modern game etc.and eventually just stop listening to advice.

Flower could have stood aside? Seems like a stitch up myself, but guess could have been related to saving severance pay.

I'd add Morgan to your list - surely he can't keep his position? I expect Moores to go, but only as ODI/T20 coach. He'll keep the Test gig and get someone else to do one-dayers, but god knows who. Maybe give Farbrace a go?

Haven't seen any mention of them. There could be a complete overhaul once Strauss gets his feet under the table.

Or before.

If it's politically expedient.

Moores has laughingly been sacked, not for being crap, but to counter accusations that Strauss is too conservative.

Meanwhile Strauss' role seems to be get as many former captains inside the tent ****ing out so there's no dissent. The likes of Botham and Gower can be bought with a good claret, for which Strauss' cellar is no doubt amply qualified, Stewart can be silenced by mentioning Indian bookmakers, Capey can be dangled a non-existant carrot of a recall and that leaves Athers, Vaughan and Hussain as the three independently minded England captains that need to be controlled. Offering them an advisory position should be sufficient for this. If they reject it, they deserted their country; if they accept they are part of the system they are criticising.

Job (for the boys) is a good'un.
