Yes but they'd almost certainly be in the top division.

How many teams would you have in the top division?

The first Test is in Kanpur beginning on September 22, followed by Tests in Kolkata and Indore.

Squad Kane Williamson (capt), Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Mark Craig, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Luke Ronchi, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling.

Don't know how they are going to get XI from that squad. Southee, Boult, Wagner, Neesham, Sodhi, Santner?

England are playing at completely different grounds so we can't learn anything. We did play at Kolkata and it was 107 overs 290/8 spin (3 bowlers) and 82 overs 256/10 seam (2 bowlers).

In the warm up game NZ opening with Boult and Wagner. That looks better than Boult and Southee. Wagner used by NZ to bounce batsmen out but a good swing bowler.

Wagner's just a better bowler than Southee, period. Southee was pretty reasonable 2 or 3 years ago but has tailed off a fair bit.

And that was against a weaker Mumbai side.

The economy rate was somewhat skewed by pie import/export expert Ish Sodhi.

Hard to find a more self-interested cricketer than Harbhajan Singh. Even harder to take a word he says seriously.

Strange that he seems to have a decent couple of points to make in this article therefore. Perhaps he was misquoted.

Good old recent retiree biographies. McCullum putting the boot into Ross Taylor. Nice one, ****.

Really wish that these retiring players would leave it a while before putting in the boot into their previous colleagues. Michael Clarke a recent guilty party on this matter too. Seriously, keep your trap shut about guys who are still playing. How ****ing hard is it?

Mark Chapman looks as if he might have the goods as a future ODI player for NZ. Not the biggest call, perhaps, given he's played for Hong Kong, but had a look at him for the first time today and he can sure find the middle of that bat of his. Plenty of improvisation as well. I'd like to see him in first class, as he looks quite talented, but red ball cricket isn't quite the same.

For those interested, the blackcaps.co.nz has scorecards for NZ domestic cricket. You can click on the wickets and I believe 6s and 4s and you can see fixed camera footage of the dismissal. Not the best, but you can get to see some of the players in action.

I think Williamson may be regret putting Australia in to bat here. What do NZ fans think of his captaincy in general?

The Dharmasena review system has moved to Australia!

Don't think it matters on a wicket as flat as this.

New Zealand have really become Australia's whipping boys - world cup, home + away test series, current odi series - during a period where it's been the easiest to beat Australia.

Australia were pretty decent at Tests at the time that NZ lost back-to-back series, and whilst the Test team might be in a lull, the ODI team is still #1, as far as I can tell.

As for Williamson's captaincy, it's a stark contrast (for better or worse) from McCullum.
