Very strange. If Pope sustains his current batting form for the rest of the season he could be on the winter Test tour, but I don't expect him to ever keep wicket on a regular basis and there are plenty of more accomplished wicketkeepers in county cricket.

I imagine they've played the 6th bowler in part due to Woakes just coming back from injury, Fisher is a real youngster in a pretty experienced lineup as well.

Is Woakes playing as a batsman? He hasn't bowled yet.

So having confidently stated that, he's started to bowl.

Match delayed by rain (Play due to restart at 12:40pm local time)
Any ideas what "rain" is?

India A 189-7 having lost 3 wickets in 6 balls before the "rain" (2 for Curran, 1 for Woakes).

India A lose their last 6 wickets for 9 runs. An England-like batting collapse!

I think it's one of those things that happens only in far off foreign places.

On another note, Ian Blackwell is one of the last players I'd have expected to become a full time umpire.

Malan and Pope at the crease - I hope messrs Smith and Taylor are able to tell the test player and the 20 year old kid in his first full county season apart. Fortunately for them one is a right hander and one is a left hander.

Nadeem has got 4 for India with SLA but all the Indian wickets have fallen to pace (well not spin anyway).

Curran doing himself some good if one of our seamers isn't fit for the first test which considering all of them are just coming back from injury seems likely.

Probably Rahul Dravid should pad up. He actually might do better than some of the others.

This is what happens when you pick too many bowlers. I guess they were expecting India A to put up more of a fight to be fair.

Last week on Sky, Atherton picked him out as one to watch. Seemed to be suggesting the ECB are aware of his potential.

I thought Brookes got called up by the Lions?

Anyway, he's out for the season IIRC.

The Lions squad also will be selected on Monday. Last tour was to the West Indies where England were so bad against spin.

I always read Jennings is a good player of spin because he once got 100 against Ashwin and Jadeja. I don't think that qualifies him as good against spin. If Jennings is not selected for SL will he be on a Lions tour?

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...;ty pe=series

Hard to tell who will be selected with Smith. Will Bayliss and Root be part of the selection panel or will it be Smith, Taylor and Flower?
