No-one has mentioned another five-fer for Pattinson yet. I suppose we take them for granted nowadays.

Oh dear, the Notts collapse is well and truly in motion now. 60/0 to 64/2 to 111/2 to 122/4.

Can Read save us?

Not been very good for notts in this game so far - won the toss put surrey in and they get 400 and Notts 203-7 at mo. Ealham who as been great for Notts but i think his time is up and i am still not sure about Voges dropped twice i believe.

The bloke from bbc london said Notts batting is not the best - i think we all know that

***** performance Notts really up against it now to save this game. With 400up for scurry your struggling to win the game so why not bat out time and try and accum bonus points. Poor Poor leadership Manager, coach captain someone must have told them to have a dart. Why?? bad approach.

I think this as been coming - week in week out the same batsman making schoolboy errors with little chance of them being left out.

Following on and jeffo gone 0 - but we keep saying it but nothing will be done

What a pile of Harmison.

The batting is woeful yet again. The worst thing is most got starts then threw it away.

What is going on. Certainly Read needs to kick some arse with this lot.

You have to wonder if they half have their eyes on a certain 20/20 quarter final......

Following on. 8/1, Jeffers goes early. 177 behind. This is f***ing embarrassing. Our batting has been s***e all season but occasionally covered up by the consistent excellence of our bowlers. The bowlers have an average day at the office, low and behold we're going to be beaten by an innings in 2 1/2 days because the batting is pathetic again. I mean for goodness sake Surrey's bowling attack is second division standard.

There has to be changes for the next game, even if we don't think Hales can do any better the openers need a kick up the arse. Hales in for Jeffers and if he doesn't do well this innings Shaf for Wood. I don't think they will do any better but at least it'll be two local lads with a degree of promise and send a message to the others. Jeffers and Wood can come back when they're piling on runs for the seconds.

Also, I'm afraid that the rest of the batting is not really equipped to deal with the failures of the openers. Wagh can't get past 60 and we need big tonnes from him to average it out as a good contribution from the top 3. Samit, Ready and Ealham all seem to score sod all or lots. Or just sod all in the case of Ealham since the first game, and he has been non-threatening with the ball. I'm afraid he may be a OD specialist now. As for Ready, at the end of the day he's in the team as wicket-keeper (and captain) and he's world class at that.

My side for the next match:

Hales, Shafayat, Wagh, Voges, Patel, Read, Swann, Adams, Pattinson, Fletcher, Shreck.

you know what you share a lot of similarities with Derbyshire in regards to not being able to post above 250 and being bailed out by your lower order more often than not and only generally winning games through having a good bowling attack.

anyway see how nice i am to our nieghbours, i'll even offer you Rikki Clarke!!

That's how to depress us more. Comparisons with Derbyshire.... are we really THAT bad?

Changes must be made.

This must be quite odd for you Gilo, not many Notts fans posting and then 4 turn up at once...............

Poor effort today, pleased I had other stuff to do or would have got rather miffed. Going to be a battle to avoid defeat now.

Well I spent a few hours at Trent Bridge yesterday and can report back that th batting was criminal, as I think we all already know! The really maddening things was so many playeed themselves in, then got themselves out with stupid shots!! Patel, Adams and Swann there is simply no forgiving their shot selection!! Complete and utter blood rushes to the head. Maybe on another day they would have got away with it, but yetserday, considering the state of play, they fully deserved to hole out for such stupid shots! If we had avoided the follow on, it was almost certainly a nailed on draw. Now we have just lost our 3rd wicket, Adams is batting like its 20/20 and we are still 90 odd runs adrift of making them bat again.
I like the new stand, when its empty it really echos and has good accoustics. Consequently I hope my slow hand clapping carried to the players as they trudged off. Disgraceful!!

BTW. Cheers for pointing me in the direction of this site Yams, although it could do with seperate match threads etc for the CC!

We are trying quite hard to lose this game. Another 100 runs could be enough.

Read definitely got on the front foot there.

Good knock from Samit with support from Swanny may have saved us here. Another half hour of them both going at their natural pace should just about see us to safety.

Also, that Surrey TV website is awesome. The guy who presents it does all the BBC Radio coverage for them as well wherever they go. Why don't we have someone like that? There's usually a camera on Radcliffe Road and the pavilion anyway so I don't see why we can't if someone could be arsed.
