The more I think about it, the better that win gets!

Great win and a great all round performance.

Special mention to Mull for the way he batted 2nd time around and the way he has taken on the captaincy. Also have to say the Radcliffe Rd stand is looks very nice indeed. Much better than I expected it to look.

We are 83 points from safety

Not yet, Hampshire are only ever any good against Notts so expect them to be battling us and Worcestershire for a place in next season's Division 2. Looking at the fixture list, our close to the season is far more difficult than our beginning. And Notts have an appalling record in September so we need to be way clear ....

Great to see such an effective bowling attack, well lead by Broad. We'll miss him big time.

I do understand the nervousness of county fans but I think you Notts fellows can afford a little more swagger in your steps. Last year, Essex were overwhelming favourites to go straight back down but, once they achieved their third victory, away to Surrey at Guildford, it definitely created a feeling that they could mix it with the big boys and have a decent summer. That match took place during the second week of June; Hants had recorded their third success a week earlier, also after 6 rounds, so Notts have already hit the 'three win' quicker than any side last season.

I'm not even sure there are any 'standout' sides in Div One this season, and expect most to be capable of beating one another on any given day. A second win against Lancs this weekend would see Notts enter the white ball break in a pretty strong position.

I think another concern has been how will we manage when the **** is hitting the fan without Captain Marvel. Fair play to Moores so far tho, but it does look strange without Read behind the stumps or walking in at 5 down.

Five years after Derek Underwood retired, I was still thinking "We're getting carted here but at least we can bring on Deadl.....oh".

Clearly, I'm an outsider looking in but I just have a good feeling about Notts this year.

Fair play to Moores. What I will say is that he needs to chip in with more runs consistently. He also needs to pouch the more simple chances that come his way, I have personally seen 1 or 2 drops this season that don't get mentioned anywhere need as much as the spectacular one he did take. Hopefully that will all come together.

Back down to earth for Notts!

County Championship cricket is hard to listen to (big fan of the ball-by-ball commentary though) when the game is SO one sided. A sort of torturous death by a thousand cuts.

Lol 😂 well done Notts another great batting display. 1-3 so far. What are the chances of Samit Patel running himself or someone out again.

But Moore’s blamed the bowlers. Always the same, never the fault of the continuously underperforming batsmen is it?

By the time we next play a Championship game they will have forgotten about Nash’s disastrous runs of scores and select him above Root. Libby top scored, maybe even in both innings, so he’s in for the rest of the season.

Well, Ball bowled poorly and Harry was a bit under par, but anyone is allowed one poor game. Broad was superb again and Fletcher bowled ok, but you've got to have sympathy for the bowlers. They can't keep getting the team out of trouble. How can you expect them to win the game when you only put 133 on the board?

The fact that Riki tops the averages at 33 shows where the problem lies. Nash is averaging only 3 more runs than Harry!

On another subject, I attended the Member's forum on Friday. which was largely taken up with the subject of The Hundred, to the exclusion of questions about Notts (someone asked, in all seriousness, will I be able to watch the new team's games on my Notts membership ticket ?).

Subsequently, there was very little of interest to be learned. The only new information I took away from the meeting was about the location on the 50 over matches from 2020 onwards. Lisa Pursehouse explained that where they will be played will be dependant upon whether Notts are hosting a Test match around the same time period that The Hundred is being played. If they are (and there will be three Tests scheduled at the same time as the new competition), then it's likely that all the 50 over matches will be played at Welbeck and Grantham. Apparently, Notts have been doing quite a bit of work with Grantham already. Another one for the outground lovers out there...

Duncan Fletcher was apparently unavailable to comment.

Ha ha.

I like this initiative. Somebody with Read's breadth of experience has to be an asset to the national set up. Let's hope he'll have the opportunity to assist England rather more regularly than he was permitted in his playing days.

For those asking about how Footit is getting along. In a SET game at Grantham today, Durham 2s are 114-8. Footit's figures

Carter taking wickets in the Royal London. Any chance we’ll go with 3 spinners in the T20? No, I didn’t think so. Shame.
