So it seems I was correct and it was just WA media tooting their own horn. I'm surprised a reputable news source like bbc bought into it, maybe not so reputable after all.

Australia call off hosting Bangladesh later this year because of a clash with AFL.

What a lame excuse.

We're almost as bad as the BCCI when it comes to our failure to help grow the game.

England are no better at this. As I have said elsewhere we haven’t even invited Bangladesh for 8 years and have played loads of teams only 2 years after a previous tour they have undertaken here. That is not growing the game.

"I noticed later in my innings last week the ball was definitely harder and carried further – which is what you want in T20 cricket."

How will that help the bowlers?
Maybe if the ball is caught in the crowd it should be given out.

Other than a handful of T20 wins over England earlier in the year.. Australia is on a downhill slide in limited overs formats. This has become evident from our 0-5 thrashing at the hands of the old enemy.. our second ODI loss in a matter of months. While we fielded a green attack which never grew to any great heights.. it was our sad batsmen that let us down. This mob still can not play decent spin.. they are laughable to be honest. Other than one or two.. they should not be allowed anywhere near a sub continental team on their soil.

Who are the smokies for the two tests against Pakistan in the UAE in October? Langer has said that those going on the A tour to India next month are well and truly in the frame for the UAE tour.

Australia A Squad: Two 4 day Tests in India.. from September 8.
Mitchell Marsh(c), Alex Carey, Ashton Agar, Brendan Doggett, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Jon Holland, Usman Khawaja, Michael Neser, Joel Paris, Kurtis Patterson, Matt Renshaw, Mitchell Swepson, Chris Tremain.

Justin Langer has made it clear that current test batting spots are up for grabs and that any of the A batsmen can clinch a spot on the October 2 tester series in the UAE with strong performances in India. Who are a chance?
For starters Kurtis Patterson is one. This stylish leftie has been knocking on national selection now for several years. Matthew Renshaw must now be a cert to return to the Test opening spot after a terrific off season in England where he compiled three county centuries. Usman Khawaja should also be reinstated if for no other reason as mentor to the young blokes. On a sour note how does Peter Handscomb continue to be picked with his suss technique?

Yes I'm surprised they aren't looking at more new batsmen.

To be honest there were no state domestic boys smashing down the door last season. That is anyone under 25. A host of veterans like George Bailey and Callum Ferguson fared better.. but the selectors seem to have bypassed them for youth.

He's a quick bowler. He looked half decent in the Big Bash.

A Qlander. Was a member of the Academy 2 years ago.. Former Under 19 player. I think he is last man standing among the young Aussie quicks. Others are battling stress injuries. There are better bowlers coming thru the Pathway System than Doggett imho. One to watch out for is South Australian David Grant.
