Darren Lehmann might be looking for a familiar employer soon.

15m already in debt and now looking to build a new stand (25m) putting them 40m in debt - is this the price of success?

Am I cynical in arguing it is the "price" of being asked to build these facilities to keep having the ground to the ECBs international standards? I know Headingly is far better located than Chester-Le-Street but it is an awful lot of money.

Headingley is a pain in the arse to get to, and I only live 15 miles away.

Won't they need the new stand to fit in all the people a successful T20 competition will bring?

I don't think it's quite as simple as that (no matter how many would like it to be)...

Looks as if Yorkshire may face a difficult start to the Championship campaign. Key bowler Jack Brooks will be out for all the matches in April, and Sidebottom and Plunkett alos have unspecified injuries.

Not the easiest finish either and, as evidenced by the number of posts between this one and the last, not the most glorious middle.

A variation on started badly, declined in the middle and the less said about the end the better? Not that we've reached the end.

If often surprises me how seemingly very dominant county sides can fall away rather quickly. Presumably Obliquearse being older and more injured and Bairstow being a stranger by comparison with two and three years ago are pretty important factors.

I think the more we search for answers, the more we realise how little reward there may be. The approaching advance into middle age of Adjacentposterior and the absence of Bairstow for much of the season probably had an impact though. At such times, true Yorkshire aficionados may take solace from this page on the interweb (I have something they call a "short cut on my desktop" to it)...

The futile search for a narrative in random events? I don't think the four day game is that random but when just the weather, let alone injuries or other happenstances can affect the destination of the trophy, it's not that reliable an indicator of merit either, I suppose. Course, Summer thinks that's a large part of its charm.

I like the number of different names there are for the one day competition.

Probably the most reliable indicator of merit is performance over several decades, hence the link posted above!
