What, Bresnan cant get a game? I think there's someone on here who thinks he should be England's pivotal number 8, yet he can't get into Hobart's team anywhere!

I think there is a limit of two overseas players, so Bresnan will most likely play when Sammy goes to South Africa for the T20s.

Twas a tongue in cheek comment to be fair regarding discussions about England's ODI number 8 from another thread!

He only arrived on the 27th and will replace Hales. I think he plays on the 7th Jan.

Bresnan ODIs
1st six 2006
2nd six 2011
3rd six 2014

The difference between Faulkner and Bresnan at number 8
19 inns ave 31.69 (career 44.66)
46 inns ave 18.96 (career 19.79)

Best at number 8 was Klusener.

Might be an idea for Bopara to bat at 8, Out of the 5 times batting in that position only out once.

Stokes the latest addition who will replace injured Ryder.

Best thing about today's game was captain Bailey miked up and being able to listen to him speaking to the bowlers, fielders and umpires. Also Christian's 34 off 9 balls.
Didnt Carberry score 60 odd the other night?

In what way is Tendo, English given that he plays for Holland? I know someone will point at the origins of a few others but even so a Saffer with a Dutch passport representing the Dutch! Wessels is sort of English qualified now? I've just been thinking that the Big Bash only needed a wicket-keeper and you could then have an England team that didn't make the world cup. Of all the things Prior had to get injured when he previously had a Big Bash contract. Just imagine if he had been fit and been up against Pietersen? I think I might have made an effort to watch that game!

You know what I mean, players that play in England...

We could have half a team born in other countries

Stokes - New Zealand
Lumb - South Africa
Pietersen - South Africa
Wessels - Australia
Morgan - Ireland
Roy - South Africa
ten Doeschate - South Africa

Wessels is a wicketkeeper

Never realised that Rikki Wessels was Australian-born. I thought he was South African like his father.

Kepler played for Australia up until 85, the year Riki was born, before moving back to South Africa the year after. He then resumed his Test career after apartheid.

That makes it no different from normal then!

Anyways there would only be one more player needed from the England - non-selected to make an alternative England XI.

Carberry
Lumb
Wessels
Pietersen
Roy
Wright
Stokes
Flintoff
Bresnan
Parry

One seamer short! I don't think the bowling would be too clever, the batting might be all right but a bit calypso-collapse.
