It's time for glory to return to everyone's favourite-honorable-non-Kolpak-signing-non-elitist-Rikki-Clarke-employing-not-hogging-the-England-team-any-more-brilliant-to-watch-better-than-Essex county.

More of the same from Surrey really. Ramps to show his class. Butcher to show his class. Clarke to show his class. Batty to show you what England are missing in the keeping department. Benning to show what England are missing in the ODI-opening department.

Who's going to do the bowling then?

That's where my argument falls down...!

But, more seriously, Azhar Mahmood and Mohammad Akram are very reliable bowlers, and when Matt Nicholson turns up a month or so into the season, that should boost our firepower somewhat. One hopes that young bowlers like Jade Dernbach and Neil Saker will make some serious strides towards maturity this season, as we have lost a lot of bowlers in recent seasons. Rikki Clarke was poor with the ball by his standards last year, so we're looking for more control from him, as he found an extra yard of pace last year, but just couldn't utilise it properly.

As for slow bowling options, Doshi has been the best of them in the last few years, although admittedly more so in one day cricket. Salisbury had a vintage season last year, so hopefully he's got one last summer left in him, and Schofield... well, you never know what you're getting with him.

If I can find someone to go with me, I'm considering going up to watch a day of Surrey's LVCC opener against Yorkshire next week.

Does anyone know ticket prices for such games at the Brit Oval?

Surrey's two best (looking) players in top form today. 83 off 60 for Rikki Clarke and 84 off 72 for James Benning today.

Watch out world.

And you can add a Boucher-esque 52 off 28 balls to Clarke's CV for the season.

This Clarke fellow, I recognise the name, but can't picture the face, anyone got a photo?

To me, Clarke is the unacceptable face of cricket.

Does anyone know how Surrey TV works? I want to watch the highlights of yesterdays game but can't seem to get the media player to do anything.

I wouldn't worry. All it does is alternate pictures of pies with pictures of Rikki Clarke's face and it's sometimes hard to tell the difference anyway.

No, his face is officially banned from the board, best bet would be going to cricinfo and looking at his profile page.
