Apparently Mortaza Hussain has a British passport. What a joke county cricket is at the moment as far as overseas players are conerned!

Surrey are far from the worst offenders with regards to overseas players.

I see nothing wrong with four overseas players as long as there are only two in a side at any given time. Surrey have had 9 English-qualified players in their side all season. None of this Kolpak rubbish.

It's about time Simon King was given a game at Surrey so they could have the combo of King, Hussain and Jordan all in the same side.

English 'qualified' prehaps but you've got the likes of Chris Jordan in the ranks and he's already said he 'ideally' wants to play for the West Indies.

I'd rather Chris Jordan did play for Windies, they need all the young talent that they can get.

Why have Surrey retained Ally Brown, Ormond and Akram? Having signed Afzaal, Pedro Collins and Saqlain Mushtaq and looking as though they are also going to sign Mohammad Asif as an overseas player and Nicholson as a Kolpak player surely there needs to be some players leaving in the other direction!

Chris Lewis will be Surrey's secret weapon for Twenty20 this year according to today's Guardian.

Is this because their key all rounder has moved to Derbys?

So we have Parore coming out of retirement to play in the ICL and now Lewis to play for Surrey. Hollioake has done it before in the past who will be next out of retirement to play twenty20 cricket?

right.. i reckon it's time someone dug the surrey thread out of the mothballs!

i'm really curious to see how the first game goes today, particularly the bowling should we not win the toss. i know everyone's suggesting we don't have the depth to take 20 wickets, but i think that our eccentric attack's more of an unknown quantity than a certain disappointment. nicholson's a stalwart, and if collins adapts to the oval and jordan kicks on from his good showing at the end of last season, then all that's left is for salaquin to find some of his surrey magic and we *could* have a pretty threatening bowling line up...
