What county cricket grounds have you been to?

What cricket grounds have you been to in your life? Here's my short list:

Hove, Sussex x100s
Aigburth, Lancashire x1
Lords, Middlesex x 4 or 5
The Oval, Surrey x 4 or 5
Horsham, Sussex x20ish
Arundel, Sussex x20ish

I would like to go to Taunton, Trent Bridge and The Rose Bowl.

What county grounds have you watched your team play at, and roughly how many times?

Low list at the moment, but this summer I'm gonna dominate it.

Lords
Sophia Gardens.

On my list this year is Whitgift School, Beckenham, The Oval at least.

Oh and I went to Hove during my honeymoon last year, but the day was a wash out.

Trent Bridge - Too many to count

Worksop - About 6, including 1 where I spent all 3 days in the scorebox controlling the new electronic scoreboard for the scorers (and getting lunch and tea with the players).

Derby - 5

Scarborough - 4

Chesterfield - 3

Headingley - 2

Tunbridge Wells - 1

Colwyn Bay - 1

Old Trafford - 1 (THE ****ING BIG ONE!!)

Sussex - Almost!

Steetley - Notts 2nds once

Edit: Plus Cleethorpes, having been reminded by dpressed's post.

That was over 20 years ago and the fact was that I was actually in the nets on another pitch at the club. At the end of training we went to watch the game. It had a nice grass bank and would have had a clubhouse but no real facilities for spectators as such. As well as that game they did have testimonials for county pros there. Let alone a county pro Richard Hadlee had a game there and a Notts team of sorts went there, however that was back in the mid-80s!

Wow! Kim wanted to write a book but I guess Summer of 77 you really should compile one!

Yeah, I've long cherished the idea of a more 'street' version of Geoffrey Moorhouse's "The Best Loved Game" - a book describing the experiences of a year's cricket-watching around England, but less reverent than GM's classic. In other words, it would be similarly loving and appreciative of the game but with a more mischievous look at the county clubs, players and members, etc, comments on how rubbish catering is at certain grounds (especially at non first class games). There'd be recollections of blagging into members' areas, or sneaking in the ground for nothing, that sort of thing.

Very easy to write the basic plan, though. I had a whole summer off two years ago, saw oodles of cricket, made a number of mental notes and did nothing else.

Been to a fair few. Can't compete with summer of '77 though! Off the top of my head:

The County Ground, Southampton-100s of times mid 90s-2000.

Portsmouth once-1997 I think. Lehmann got a double ton for Yorkshire.

Dean Park, Bournemouth-as a child apparently and also seen Dorset play there.

Rose Bowl-100s of times 2001-present.

Basingstoke-2 days each in 2008, 2009, 2010.

Egbaston-tests in '96, 2000, 2001 and day of Championship game last year.

Trent Bridge-seen Hampshire there 3/4 times over last three years or so and went to Notts v Sussex in 2009 and a day of the World Twenty20.

Lord's-tests in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and an ODI in 2005. Also seen Hampshire there in Championship and one day games in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2006 and finals in 2005 and 2007.

Southgate-went to day of Championship game in 2005.

Richmond-Middlesex v Hampshire Twenty20 in 2005.

The Oval-Tests in 2002, 2007, 2008. Plenty of Hampshire games there over last ten years or so.

Hove-Day of Sussex v Hampshire game in 2006 and day of Sussex v Northants last year.

Arundel-Hampshire games there in 2008 and 2009.

Canterbury- 2 days of Hampshire game there in 2006 and one day of the game in 2010.

Cheltenham- 2 days of Hampshire game there in 2005. Was same time England racked up 400 on first day of Ashes test.

Taunton- 1 day there in 2003. Derek Kenway hundred and Robin Smith's last game.

Also seen minor counties cricket at Slough and Burnham.

Always planned to go to Headingley when I lived in Sheffield but the weather was crap or Hamphire were getting battered whenever I had a chance to go.

Plagiarist! I got as far as a title and a plan as well - along the same lines. Mine was going to concentrate more on members/supporters, but like you, Ive never got much further than a few notes. Did spend a whille
making notes on a voice recorder Mrs Kim had given me but managed to delete it all somehow.

As a result, Im in awe of the discipline of people who write books.

Old Trafford around a 100.
Aigburth x 2
Blackpool x 2
Edgbaston x 1
The Oval x 1

That's it for my county cricket attendance. I'm more of an international cricket attender, mainly test matches.
