Good effort. The spinners sharing all 10 second innings wickets between them and Danish ending with 13 for the match.

12 man squad:

Alastair Cook, Mark Pettini, Varun Chopra, Ravinder Bopara, Ronnie Irani, James Foster, Ryan ten Doeschate, James Middlebrook, Graham Napier, Alex Tudor, Andre Nel, Danish Kaneria

I suspect one of Napier or Middlebrook to miss out depending on the pitch conditions.

Boy do we need him. Strong squad on paper, just hope the pitch is a little less roadlike than last year. Some real batting wickets in this division with Chelmsford and Taunton too.

The trouble is if the pitch offers spin then we will get deducted points as usual, But you can have a pitch that does nothing but concede runs for 4 days and thats ok.

I think it should be fairly tough to take wickets, but some of these pitches just go too far. I'd put the three mentioned above in that category.

I agree with you. A complete featherbed is every bit as poor a pitch as a minefield or a beach. Chelmsford is looking a bit flat for my liking.

What the blind buggery happened there? Cook gets a century then Foster, ten Doeschate, Middlebrook, Nel and Tudor all get ducks.

Nothing that would get past the filter, I suspect.

Run a ball as well! Isn't it interesting that the only game that was played to a conclusion was in ireland.

Not cost the county financially every time he plays. RTD is also non-england qualified, so it's a case of him or Flower, and at the moment they think RTD offers more value to the side. We are a batsman short though, but we were before Bopara got back from the world cup too, and we did ok then.

Chased down 277 for the loss of just one wicket.

Centuries for Chopra & Pettini. Half century for Ravi.

Great win yesterday, very impressive from the young trio at the top of the order.

Bad news however about our young fast bowling prospects, both Chambers and Westfield have picked up stress fractures on the back, and both will be unable to bowl for at least 3 months.
