I can only think the announcement by England was made after the squad announcement by Essex. He'd better be in the squad given our recent batting strength and performances.

I thought the England players were playing in the FP games at the weekend, not the current round of CC games. The exception is Panesar, as the Gloucs v Northants CC game runs from Friday-Monday.

What happened to our Ronnie? I thought he was playing in this game. I see we abandoned our not playing Ole Dutch Chops and Grant Mitchell in the same match tactic. Good job too as they made sure we weren't following on (them and Fozzie B of course).

Shame this game is in Swansea as I would've well fancied the chance to watch it. Ah well, at least we have the Ashes here in 2009.

Chopra bags a pair. Harris is his archnemsis.

Pettini & Bopara digging us out.

Essex making a game of it. Tim Phillips just out, meaning all four results very much still on. 220-4, needing another 103 with about 20 overs remaining.

Think Essex missed a trick. I'd have promoted the likes of Middlebrook and Ten Doeschate up the order ahead of Grant Flower. Then if wickets fell, Flower would be ideal to shut up shop. Instead, Essex were unimaginative and stuck to their usual order. Now if a couple of wickets fall it will be the all-rounders who will have to try and stick it out, rather than a batsman with a tighter defence.

Cracking win for Essex - well played Ravi who apparently batted superbly for his 147*

Excellent.

I think Ravi has not done himself justice in the four day game, although he is young, hopefully he'll really crack on this season.

I love you Ravi Bopara. I hope GLAMNO1 hasn't topped himself.
