Is it just me or have they had to bring the stand in onto the pitch? Is that the corner where they put the nets up?

It does look like it's encroached a bit... We usually have the rope in a fair bit on the Fox Road side of the ground though so we can probably just play on wickets a bit further that way to compensate.

From memory the nets (all two of them!) were just at the end of the William Clarke Stand so yes close to that stand.

Shafayat can fill in (not brilliantly from what I've seen). Can't think of anyone else, since Alleyne and Russell Warren have both left in the last couple of seasons.

Did a Richerd Bates play for Notts from '91-'99? Apparently he coached the England women's cricket team for a few years - inc '05 ashes win. He is coaching NSW women's team at the moment and was interviewed on ABC radio Grandstand prog a few days ago.

Yep.

Damned if I can remember him though.

Dave Hussey has won the Australian Twenty20 competition with Victoria again.

We're going to do the quadruple!

Shreck called up as a replacement for Kabir in the Lions squad (along with Steve Kirby). Well deserved.

What's that, getting relegated in both leagues and knocked out of the cups at the first opportunity?

The Fox Road stand has been extended by five rows which brings it closer to the pitch and ground level as well. In some ways that's a bit of a shame, I liked that stand being set back a bit and giving you a good wide walkway between the stand and the pitch.

There's some new photos of the floodlights going up and the massive new stand on the Notts site.

So the pre-season to South Africa is a shopping trip as well. Footitt might as well look for another county.

Assuming no Sibo, Swann or Broad, I suspect we'd look like this:

Jefferson
Wood
Wagh
Patel
Hussey
Read
Ealham
Ferley
Franks / new signing
Harris
Shreck

I fear you might be right. If he can't get in with those two missing then it's curtains.

Harris had a poor season last year, so I think there's a potential opening for Footitt if he can avoid injury.

Also, Ferley may struggle to hold down a place, so if Swann is absent, they might consider using Patel as the only spinner and playing an extra seamer.

I hope so.

EDIT: as long as that seamer is Footitt, anyway.

Looked in at Trent Bridge yesterday whilst I was in Nottingham for the Swindon game - the new stand is really taking shape and looks very impressive.

Yes, he's had back surgery and will be out at least until May.

It's a bit worrying to hear that David Hussey is (allegedly) signed up to the IPL, having signed a 2 year contract with Notts a little while back. Newell is unsurprisingly trying to get clarification ...

Meanwhile, Read is in the England selectors' bad books for playing in the ICL which didn't cause any contractual problems. It seems to me that the IPL is causing more problems for cricket in other parts of the world than the ICL has done so far. Or am I missing the point?
