I heard Notts have signed Bangladeshi batsmen/spinner Shakib, from late July onwards, not sure if this confirmed but read it in a local bangladeshi paper, apparently Fleming wants a rest before the 20/20 WC, thus assuming Shakib won't be selected for Bangladesh.

Don't have a problem with Shakib, looked a talent in the World Cup and would be interesting to see how he got on in England. Would be a massive kick in the teeth for Samit Patel though if Shakib kept him out of the side.

Surely this will mean Jefferson won't find a place in the team either?

I was obviously wrong about Newell not trying young talent. It's must be just English talent he has a problem with

Jefferson might not get in anyway... and if he does it could be ahead of Shafayat.

They won't need to worry, as yet, as Shakib rejected the chance to come due to the 20/20 World cup, you guys will need to stick with Hussey and get another youngster in...

Think they are worried he'll be too expensive. You'd have seen more of him if we hadn't been in with a chance of qualifying for the semis, I'm sure.

True but as I suspected it was Shafayat who dropped out for Jefferson.

As I said in the twenty20 thread he needs to work on his fitness a bit like Rob Key. At the moment he has a physique like Inzi!

Still had to laugh when Loye said he was blowing and was about to give his wicket away... he did, but apparently Lancs didn't want it!

There is work to be done on his fitness which I think might hold him back from England recognition for a while, but his potential is undeniable.

how?????????

can you throw well right handed as well? Can you bowl left handed? They just seem virtually the same action to me. I find it rather scary how people can do one one way and the other the other

Can't throw right handed really, it's pretty woeful. Apparently when I was about 5/6 I used to bowl left arm medium in the garden, occasionally bowl a bit of slow left arm in the nets...

There's an article on Samit Patel in the Times. Not sure if you're allowed to post it on here.
