Article written by David Fulton, by the way. I'd wondered what he was up to now.

He's in the team, and on his way to another half century.

Good to see Chris Read has beaten his highest first class score for the second time this season.

Any thoughts on your new loan signing from Lancashire Kyle Hogg? I'm surprised that Notts didn't try and get Newby on a loan but I guess he is higher up the pecking order at Lancs at the mo.

Been there, done that. It wouldn't surprise me if Notts enquired about Newby - he would have felt at home at Trent Bridge after his previous loan spell there.

I don't know much about Hogg. He may well be useful, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel - almost expected Gareth Clough to have a run out at Chelmsford!

He played 2 matches for Worcs 6 wickets at 22.66 and average of 15.00 with the bat but he is better than that.

Newby has bowled 58 overs 10 wickets at 20.60 for Lancs.

I'm interested in this move, not only because Notts have signed a player, but because in the 20/20 game where we beat Lancs on Sky, Dominic Cork said that there was history between Hogg and Shreck going back to a second XI game some time ago. Hogg hooked Shreck for 6 in the televised game (wasn't fully in control, as I recall) and words were exchanged, although Shreck was smiling.

Anyone have the remotest idea what this was all about?

I hear Ealham's now injured. Despite getting Francis and Hogg in on loan, Notts are desperately short of bowlers. Anyone know how the injured (Shreck, Footitt, Franks) are progressing?

Notts are said to be bringing in Chris Martin (NZ) when Hussey goes off to AA. That sounds sensible.

I didn't even realise Hussey had a drink problem

Not quite the same batsman as Hussey though.

No, might get more than 0 in the first innings against Somerset . I'll let Hussey off this once, he's done awfully well for Notts and deserves his place with Australia A.

Kyle Hogg, the loan cover for injured fast bowlers is injured now. We've loaned in Nadeem Malik as emergency loan cover for the injured emergence loan cover.

This really is ridiculous.

Shreck, Sidebottom, Ealham, Footit, Francis, Franks, AJ Harris (for a lot of the season) and Hogg... If we do sign Broad he'll never play for England again through injury.

Yet wicketkeepers just go on and on. They don't even leave the field at all during a game.

Good point. I wonder how they answer the call of nature

They are given priority to the gents at the lunch and tea breaks and not allowed any liquids at the drinks breaks.

Are Notts keeping Fleming or Hussey next year? Tough choice is that one

Yeah. Annoying that we have to lose one when we usually field 9 other English eligible players while other counties field their one/two overseas players and a handful of Kolpakkers.

I'm leaning towards Hussey depending on what tours Australia A have in the domestic season... Fleming will presumably have the Test leg of the NZ tour in England. Hussey is a great OD and Twenty20 player as well, and overall I'd say he's probably out performed Fleming in terms of consistency...
